#Request for testing of standalone RNG seed finder.

So far it looks like 4 of the 5 beta programs are getting some very good testing.

The one nobody has tested yet is the standalone RNG seed finder. Fye has separated this out from Cram-o-matic into a separate program so that it can be used to RNG other things like overworld spawns.

Let's see if we can try testing it for that purpose. Maybe flash some fancy rare mark shiny? uwu

Basically this process, but with the seed finding part now fully automated.

I'd try it myself, but I'm in the middle of moving so I'm too busy. lul

RSalute will try it this weekend. Thanks for letting us know where our focus should be

buoyant cairn
#

Speaking of which, I almost forgot @native locust is in this server. lul

#

(gave you access to the beta channel btw)

pliant remnant
#

was planning to do sometime this week as well sandsup hyped for some marks

jovial flame
#

Works great! (updating the state works too)

#

And some more...

buoyant cairn
#

Star shiny with rare mark. sip

jovial flame
#

These are just regular old lame Square, markless ones. I just wanted to check the RNG thing worked at all lul

rough crane
#

I'm testing the RNG seed finder and it works amazingly well for me, Got my shiny tyrantrum, sorry I did not snap a pic 🙂 Still a million thanks to the people who developed it, combined with the turbo button it makes SWSH RNG a breeze.

#

6 runs so far, no problems with the program whatsoever

real wharf
#

how many ticks for the turbo R3 did you guys set for the Orbeetle frame advancing?

#

or should I use other pokemon to advance that's faster

buoyant cairn
#

There are no tick options for either RNG program.

gusty plinth
#

I think they are talking about frame advances once you have your state 0 and state 1

real wharf
#

yea, I'm talking about using the Turbo Button to do the advancing. That example used an old version of it and used 13 ticks on the options

#

but that seems to not work with current Turbo program

#

it's too fast

#

I'm trying with 150 but not sure if that's optimal

gusty plinth
#

If someone has a more up to date guide for rng abuses, I'd gladly take a look

real wharf
#

I'm using 150 ticks for holding the button and 150 ticks between releases and it seems to work now with some low count tests. I'll try to see if it can do 1000+ correctly

#

I'm new to doing RNG too

balmy pumice
#

In the summary screen it only advances once every animation but in the party menu itself it should advance every button press (up to some amount) no matter whether a new animation was started or not

real wharf
#

oooooh I see, that was mentioned in the video but wasn't clear. I thought in the summary it woukld only advance with a specific animation, and in party it would advance with every animation, not every button pressed

#

will try again , the first time it didn't work but I think it was maybe because of the static mon wasn't despawned properly

#

thanks!

real wharf
#

nope I'm not doing that to test

gusty plinth
#

lol dont ask for star shiny

real wharf
#

but but kuro asked

jovial flame
real wharf
#

Also you can save to checkpoint while working on the frame skips right? Just make sure no to save too close to the target frame?

jovial flame
jovial flame
#

To be clear, I didn't actually use the "Consider Menu Close" setting in the GUI - I just noted that when closing my menu, I was 2 advances ahead of where I expected I'd be, so in further attempts I would adjust accordingly

real wharf
pliant remnant
#

you catch, check which frame you hit/how much you were off by. adjust by that much, and start the process again from scratch

#

if you were off by x amount and did everything right, when you do it again, if you've adjusted for that you should hit the frame

real wharf
jovial flame
#

Emphasis on "start the process again from scratch". If you're used to doing RNG abuse on emulators instead of retail, this may sound like a pain, and it is

real wharf
#

I just haven't done any rng. I got some success doing static and now trying on the authentic sinistea which is the "Symbol" encounter type, which had none success so far because after closing menu things never hit correct and I couldn't find wheree i actually land. And yea I wasn't sure what "from scratch" mean. As in close game and restart from the save?

#

the tool doesn't show all the frame continuously

jovial flame
#

Yep, you'll have to find the state all over again

#

What do you mean by "continuously"?

real wharf
#

so not sure how to find where I lkand to calculate the frame difference after closing menu

jovial flame
#

Turn off all the filters and set the number of advances to show lower.

real wharf
#

like this

#

I tried advancing 164 by the turbo

#

then closed menu

#

and the one I caught

#

is neither 164 or 165

#

and next frame shown is 210

jovial flame
#

Please show the entire window.

real wharf
#

ignore the retail advances tracker, I didn't really use it

#

for static, I use turbo with exact frame num,ber there and it worked, but the static example had less noise in the area and more similar frames I guess

#

then in this cemetery area it gets messy

#

I think im missing something obvious but not knowing what

#

but currently I just don't know how to exactly to calculate menu closing advances. Because I never land where any of the results are shown.

jovial flame
#

By the sounds of it, it should either be in one of the other slots, or it's further ahead than you're searching, or the RNG state is wrong. I'm not familiar with the encounter slot RNG abuse.

real wharf
#

do you know if the rng works on already spawned pokemon in front of you?

#

or just works on newly spawned one when you just walk in

jovial flame
#

As far as I know: if it's on screen, it will not change when you advance. The tutorial video in the OP deliberately makes sure no Pokemon are there until the advances have been made, then walks so that the desired Pokemon is the first to spawn in.

#

That would explain why it doesn't match up with the RNG tool.

real wharf
#

yea that would explain why... because I thought I could save when I find the authentic sinistea, and then do the advance, i need to double check how that video finds the authentic one

jovial flame
#

Authentic Sinistea is slot 99.

real wharf
#

anyways excuse me for my RNG questions on this thread. Outside of frame finding issues, the Auto Seed finder program works great for me! Thanks Fye for this great addition

real wharf
#

thank you too Scotteh for the help. I'll just keep trying different ways until something works out for the slot encounter. The official guide of the RNG tool doesn't help much in these. The section on how to count the NPC melted my brain

gusty plinth
#

confirming the seed-finding program works like a charm uwu

rough crane
#

Even on later frames (5.5 million in this case) the program works

rough crane
#

Even later frames work fine too (this one was about 90 million)

i’m having some trouble using the seed finder with the japanese program for finding psv (SwShOverWorldRNGSupporter), i was substituting the states in that program with the states from the seed finder and the first time i got a result that didn’t translate to a tid/sid, and the second time i didn’t get a response at all. it’s totally possible that this isn’t a problem with the seed finder program, but with the other program or user error somewhere along the way but figured it might be worth documenting anyway

dusty ivy
#

I found the RNG program has an older version (that Kuro linked) where you have to swap the 0 & 1 states. Where as the newer version you don’t swap it.

Also, the TID/SID spreadsheet did break for me. Had to use a workaround for it.

#

If either of those sound like your issues, it isn’t a program problem. Granted, it may be worth someone creating a RNG guideline on when to use our program in the process. (Even if it’s obvious)

#

BatThink or you’re mentioning the JPN program. Hmm. Did you use the stuff from Jenga that Kuro linked,

copper turret
#

i did try with the states in the correct place and swapped on the second time to check, and did see that sometimes you need to +1 or -1 for the spread sheet but couldn’t verify either result form the so decided to try a second round to confirm the psv. which is when i didn’t get a result.

i used the stuff from jengas video (the links that were updated in the comments)

dusty ivy
#

Yeah I tried the +/-1 stuff too and it didn’t really work. Had to use pkhex to check what my 5 digit IDs were. sadman after doing that it worked

copper turret
#

hm, i don’t have a hacked switch sadly

dusty ivy
#

I don’t either. Used $dump in #seed-checking , then used pkhex on the pc to check the file. You can hover over the pokemon’s OT/ID and it gives you the two numbers you need.

#

Surely there’s a way to do it with the spreadsheet but you might need to ask Jenga

copper turret
#

ooo i didn’t know that was possible, i’ll see if i can figure that out

dusty ivy
#

Know it’s not a fix per say but it allowed me to rng a marked Weavile.

copper turret
#

i can at least then compare to the results and see if i can isolate the problem

#

is there instructions for the #seed-checking anywhere

dusty ivy
#

Pins list commands. You have to get into a trade with the bot. Be ready to input a trade code online, then use the $dump command. Input the trade code then offer up the Mon. It’ll send you a file/legality report. Cancel the trade and done.

copper turret
#

thanks

copper turret
#

to close the loop the tsv from pkhex was 10 off the number i got from the other program, and still didn’t work in the spreadsheet. Seems like the error is likely in the spreadsheet and the other program, so the bot is a more reliable way. does make me wonder what a future player after bots go down would need to do

dusty ivy
#

Always a good question! Same with things like raid dens. If the bots go down, there’s no way to do it without a hacked switch.

#

At least with rng once you get the info of your save you don’t need anything else.

copper turret
#

true, and not really a problem for now tbh

buoyant cairn
#

It's also likely you'll be able to pass a mon up through multiple generations into a game that's new enough where some Discord server has a dump bot running for.

Like you can use the SwSh dump bots to get your TID/SID for games going back to gen3.

low mountain
#

When I start the program, the Orbeetle isn't doing any animations, and is just stuck like this

#

Is the a adjustment to the controllers I have to make?

#

Seems like it may be the teensy itself, the previous programs I've used aren't working either

brazen sleet
rough crane
brazen sleet
#

My target is anything to be honest I’m not exactly sure how to get my SID without spending a ton of time hunting a shiny, even at that time does encountering a shiny without exiting the battle skip frames or change ids? I honestly need a guide to start my journey

rough crane
#

im a blisy on youtube has good guides for it. Your ID or SID never change, they are set when you start a new game. The way of hunting changes slightly between types of spawns, but static spawns like most wanderers have their stats set when they pop into existence.

#

There are a lot of things that advance frames, including weather

brazen sleet
#

I’ll try to find the channel and see if that helps but from my understanding now is that I could plug any Sid in and just calculate the amount frames I need to skip based off a regular Pokémon I encounter right away?

pliant remnant
#

you can dump your pokemon using the bot here to open it up in another program and check your SID

#

it's worth watching a few guides to know what you're doing

rough crane
#

Also you need a special overworld RNG tool on your pc

#

If you want to do raid shiny hunting though it is a different story

#

You don't need to know your SID for that, but that is not the kind of RNG the tool is for.

#

I think you should watch some guides to get the basics down.

#

Also some general advice for after you have done that:

#

A lot of failures will be due to noise, make sure the area you are in does not have a lot of randomness like characters walking around. Finding a good spot is the trickiest part of the RNG

#

RNGing in hail or thunderstorms is a nightmare, and seems to interfere with certain frame advancement methods. Clear skies are best.

#

When you do very large frame skips it is best to just let the seed finder do a full 128 search again

#

If you are planning on doing a long skip or a difficult target, do some test runs to make sure your location is good and noiseless.

#

The fastest frame skipping methods can be a bit imprecise, give yourself plenty of room and do the last few thousand with a more stable method like the turbo button. I have found setting the press duration to 10 and the release to 6 to be very stable, but some people might have better or even more precise setups.

#

A good target for your first RNG is the Amaura right in front of the dynamax adventures den, that spot is very noiseless.

#

Be careful with the roamers though! if you step to close to them and spawn them in, their stats and shininess will be set right then and there. Make sure you have not gotten too close or spawned them in since your last reset or you will be doing a whole lot of work for nothing.

i’m the description for this video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CAjWTpSmqhs but it doesn’t seem to really work right
