But the game isn't dead. People are still playing, development is ongoing.

If you encounter suspected cheaters then #player-reports is for that but based on my experience in the past few months the number of cheaters is awfully close to zero right now and may actually be zero.
There's no need for them to "save the game" by doing these things you're suggesting, and making a game that's designed to be PVPVE into a PVE or co-op PVE experience only? Well, probably not going to happen.
We've been told that they are working on the next update and that's what they need to be doing. We don't need a "major rework" and doing that would essentially be making a completely different game from what they set out to make.
Edit: I can't respond to your new comments because of the 10 min cooldown. Yup, we are all aware of how long it's been since the last update and the concurrent numbers. These are concerns. Yep, the game has been review bombed, also a concern. I believe that soonâ„¢ that won't matter, and those reviews aren't "choking every possibility" but they are certainly causing some harm. We just need to be patient, need to give the team time to finish what they're working on, and be supportive of what the team is trying to do instead of trying to convince people they need to do something else that they don't need to do and that isn't best for this game - like making the massive shift to PVE/CO-OP...
