Since sidearms and melee weapons besides heavy shield don't have any advantage even at close range, where they should supposedly fare better than polearms like SVD, I suggest that they should have a capability to kill an enemy in one action, with animation playing for like 10 seconds for a hunting knife kill and less for stronger melee weapons with an option for your teammates to kill the Londoner and save you while the animation hasn't finished yet. Sidearms should have the same time for animation to play as the strongest melee but can't win against melee. Stronger melee wins against weaker melee. If weapons are identical it comes down to how it currently works.

Even though it is a creative idea to make melee weapons more viable I gotta give a 👎 because takedown animations don't fit the gameplay of Marauders.
I have to ask why
Cinematic takedown animations like CoD has for example would break the immersion and tone of the game. Especially an animation that would go on for 10 seconds would be too long.
Something the like Far Cry takedowns would be better fitted but it would still require a huge amount of balancing because when somebody takes down a player with level 12 armor with a Hunting Knife that would definitely create controversy.
There is all time in the world for me in 12 armor to kill the melee main with any ranged weapon at any distance. I only want the melee to be at least viable. As for a controversy... I died in 12 helmet to guys with stens in half a second and I think they deserved my head if they could hit all four shots in the head.
