Rework armor

Armor right now works as an absorption system rather an outright damage resistance which regardless of realism or not, is a terrible way to design it. Because of how it works, armor primarily exists to make already weak guns even weaker, and do negligable effect on any strong weapon, which is ideally what people armor up for. Also because of how this works, helmets are borderline useless, even the strongest helmets in the game massively falter against literal pistols, taking near full HP from a single headshot with stalhems and PSH helmets and etc.

Cause of how helmets work, they're basically useless against the M1941 Johnson, it can 1-tap full HP people unless they have level 12 helmets, in which they'd still only have 2.5% hp

Either a rework of armor, or a bigger HP pool would actually solve issues like this

The head shot multiplier is applied after helmet armour is deducted from a head hit, not before, so helmets are far from useless. They will keep you alive in many situations where you would have died from one or two shots and that's exactly what they're meant to do in this game.

Helmets are your most important piece of equipment. A single head shot that does 31 damage or more will kill a player from full health and there are many weapons that do that much damage, or more, per hit. Any helmet that reduces head shot damage below 30 before the 3.25x head shot modifier is applied will save you from being a one-shot if you're at full health.

Shotguns are another good reason to use a helmet. As sawed off fires 12 pellets that do 14 damage each. If at least three pellets connect with the head it will kill a player with no helmet. Wearing a good helmet can bring this number up significantly. A 12 point helmet will keep a player alive even if all 12 pellets hit the head.

It can be a bit difficult to use the same gun all the time but there are players that make an effort to pick up specific guns either because those guns are considered "meta" or they simply prefer them over other weapons. I'm a "use whatever" kind of player but some people I've teamed with regularly will only use 2 or 3 different guns most of the time. If the M1941 was a favourite gun for a lot of players, or if it was really considered a "meta" gun, then I think we would see it in the hands of players far more often than we do. I almost never run into anyone using it even though you can usually pick up several of them in a single match if you end up on the Colony Cruiser.

if the damage reduction was % then a lv 13 helm would take only 3.9 damage off from 30 damage weapons. and tbf in our motern helms can stop bullets but even then its higly recommended to avoid getting shot in the head at all as the helmets are far thinner then the plates in your righ due to your neck only being able to safely support so much weight

Idk, I like how in good armor we can take a lot of body shots but only a few to the head. It makes aiming for headshots super rewarding instead of an afterthought “oh I got lucky with my spray!”

Also, I keep dying to arm shots. Are arms and legs covered by the chest armor? If not.. I see why spraying smg’s works so well..

and helmets overall were introduced to the armys when shrapnel artillery shells were developed. it was a way to avoid them causing as much harm to the men as they did when they did not have any. because lets be frank the cloth uniformhats the french used while fighting the germans in ww1 did jack shit to defend them against that

Torso arms and everything else between waist and neck has a multiplier of 1.0
and everything below the waist has a multiplier of 0.5
