Sometimes flying all the way back to the extract point can be a long 3 min+ of null gameplay, might as well be more immersive with an autopilot feature

What good would the autopilot be? The risk of flying out is that you could be breached. An autopilot would just let you afk and lose everything even easier

This is everything that is wrong with ship meta right now. There should be fear in your heart every time you go to space. Instead ships are just fancy taxis with guns.

Yeah to have auto pilot would ruin the anxiety fun of extraction. Part of the fun is knowing you aren't safe until you extract. While you could autopilot, and still be nervous, it would add complicated because you could camp breach points and engine repair.
