#Team killing needs to be HIGHLY disincentivized.

💡 What is motivating this suggestion?
There is a huge number of players who join squads just to wipe them in the rust bucket and leave with their stuff. Not only do they get the loot but also XP and mission completions if they need to kill marauders etc.

💡 What is your proposal?
There should be a severe in-game penalty for killing a teammate during a raid alongside benefits for those assisting the community.

💡 Exactly and specifically, what should be changed and how?
I propose unforgiven TKs to result in XP loss equivalent to 2x XP gain from an appropriate marauder kill and all loot to be confiscated upon extract along with a warning about team killing and a raid ban timer if conduct continues.
The raid ban would be based on # of raids with a non-forgiven team kill vs #of non-solo raids (to avoid people spamming solos to get their % down) without a team kill on a rolling 100 game basis. If you had an unforgiven TK the warning would appear and your loot would be confiscated. at 5% you would get a 30 min ban timer. at 7.5% a 1hr ban and 10% a 1 day and 20%+ a week ban. Obviously the ban timers and %s are up for debate but it does not take much effort on each team member to not kill fellow team members.

To supplement this system, a commendation system could be implemented where players would be allowed to commend other players for great leadership or exceptional teamwork allowing for only one commendation per person (to avoid friends spamming each other with commendations). These commendations could be displayed publicly so people could have a badge of honor to wear when joining random parties. This way players would be incentivized to help lower leveled players to accrue commendations for themselves and would help parties understand the quality of a random joining their group.

My reasoning for these systems is as follows; in 100+ raids I've TK'd approximately 5x and have over 25 marauder kills and I'm terrible at this game, literally every legitimate player i've teamed with has been better than me. So It's fair to say if you are genuinely trying to not kill your team you can be successful at least 95%+ of the time making a 2x negative penalty not too bad. With my proposed solutions only 1/5 of those TKs would've been counted against me anyway.

There are some issues that arise with these solutions and I'll try to propose solutions for each.

Counter arguments:

  1. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!
Solution: Allow the dead marauder to "forgive" the killer. This will remove the penalty and let them move on with their day. Most team mates understand that TKing is a part of games like this with no team indicator just as there is in real life. It adds complexity and most team mates will forgive you and hope you get out safely with their stuff to give back to them and try again.

  1. This guy was literally running in front of us so we'd shoot him and get banned. WTF!
Solution: This one's tricky but implemented right could be chopped off at the knees pretty quickly. Answer: Extract, report the player with video. These players should get 1 warning and a week+ ban if convicted twice. My reasoning here is that many players do not record their play sessions, if one individual is recorded doing this twice there's a good chance they've ruined many others' raids this way. There should be a 0 tolerance policy for these few players that ruin the game for the majority.
Because I understand the staffing overhead for reviewing videos etc. There could be a system not unlike Valve's overwatch system that would allow players with a large number of commendations (maybe 100+) to review submitted video evidence only requiring internal staff to validate confirmed cases and remove the privileges' from players who identify false positives. Unlike Valve's overwatch, this would be exclusively looking for the above mentioned issue with a yes/no at the end that states "did the accused player, beyond reasonable doubt, intentionally get themselves team killed." This system should have a "too many negative submissions" flag that would cut off a players ability to submit videos after x number of false submissions to disallow bad actors from flooding the report system. you'd want a counter on the report page showing the player what their current negative report count was so they'd know to 1, not spam submissions and 2 only submit true bad actors. This number could be on a 1wk cooldown allowing for a margin of error.
