Maybe it's your headphone... I don't have issue with that.
that might be a tall order. can you point to any games that do this right?
I do have the same problem. For example Rust, R6 do this. Its not totally broken but in some maps is quite harmful
i'll test it out a bit with my buddy tonight in the ol' rustbucket. i know i had absolutely no problem placing a sound source in terms of left/right channels thanks to the sound engine not having occlusion (we're just hearing straight through walls), but i'm sure that sound verticality is much harder to place without knowing exactly what surfaces are above or below you, and having some context on their movements
