#Breath/pitch control advice?

Trying to pick up singing (have played keyboards and written/performed for a while) and am noticing that I have a really hard time holding out notes/phrases or even staying in tune-- I'm messing with a project that's at 140bpm and I can barely hold notes for 3-4 measures, and pitch is super inconsistent. If I sing way up in my falsetto range I can keep the pitch much more consistent and hold out notes for much longer but that's only at the like top octave of my range and I'd like to be able to use more than that haha.

I know this is a super common problem for beginning vocalists but it's frustrating, is there anything I can do other than breathing exercises and hope that translates to technique?
