When a player joins a game their character model is created with a default name tag above it. By default this text is occupied by the player’s display name but the name command changes this text to whatever you enter. If it doesn’t function it is probably because the game has disabled the default character display
names. It’s also possible that you don’t have the correct permissions to use the name command. Be default, I believe this is moderator or above. Name is not a VIP admin command.

Mm. Try unnaming the player first. That might enable the name display

it changes the displayname of your humanoid, you won't be able to see it but others should, some names aren't allowed like "admins", "all", etc
