I have a bedroom in my house that i use as sort of a hobbie room.

What I need is storage for tools mostly. Basic handheld power tools +charger and batteries then a whole bunch of habd tools that i inherited.

My vision is to have a wall of the room with shelves and drawers to hold them.

What im looking for is sturdy shelves and drawers on a budget of say no more than $100 per set of drawers or shelving unit. Less than 100$ per is a big+ as is having them easily modifiable (made of wood or plastic that i can drill into/attach things to.

Figured id ask here see what you guys think.

Not sure how helpful this will be, but the guy has plans for building that storage tower and I've seen pics were someone stuffed their entire tool/supplies collection into it, so maybe a good starting point?

for small bits a good option is using a bunch of cheap flat pack storage units like this. you can build a shelf to hold them out of scrap wood easy enough. there are also some plasns availible online for commonly availible packs like Sortimo, Dewalt, Milwakee, or Mastercraft containers.

#

scale it up a bit and you get this style which is great for larger tools, seasonal decoration and other hardware and materials

I always suggest having storage containers with lids in these configuration as it protects the contents from dust and paint overspray if you do any painting. These are also massively customizable to fit whatever bins you need or want to use. A bonus perk is you use sealed containers to climate control your storage, so if you have a 3d printer you can keep your filament dry, or if you have something specific they can act as a humidor or oiled/no-ox storage for machine parts.

I like to use clear boxes so I always see what is inside. Saves a lot of searching time

It probably would be easier to build it yourself, since most companies often want a 20 to 30 profit margin so they will charge a lot more than needed

#

And building it yourself allows you to really make it tailored to the space you have available

Remember also that the space will grow with you. Whatever you choose to start with won't be the space's final layout/final order/final look and feel. You may pick something that works now but will find that it needs to be changed/upgraded/updated some time later.

#

if there's no organization to the space right now, then it's difficult to know what will work for that space until it starts to be used for its purpose
