I made a gloomstalker character that has +13 in initiative, can't be surprised, is permanently invisible while in darkness, and can shoot at 600 range with no disadvantage

if you want to know if dice is weighted or no just put it in salty water and see if it always floats to the same number
a blanced die should float to a random number each time

I feel like the existence of magic missile kinda makes the wizards insta win 
the fighter is an eldritch knight, and uses shield on their first attempt at magic missiles


100 lvl 1 wizards could just pelt spells that do not need an attack roll
The fighter can only kill 3 wizards max at a time, 6 if he action surges
He has at best 30 turns before he dies
Yeah but with how many ASIs fighters get his saves are probably going to be pretty damn good no?
He can't have all his stats buffed
Even if he say, has proficiencies in all his stats
He would be buried down by numbers
Aizo 's comment about shield won't even matter if he gets hit with shocking grasp, which is a cantrip with advantage against plate armor
He then has no reactions to all the magic missiles flung his way
shocking grasp is a spell attack, so would still need to beat his armour class
a level 20 eldritch knight easily has 25+ ac, without the shield reaction
the wizards at level 1 would have to all roll natural 20 just to hit 
don't forget that if they have to use a melee cantrip then they don't all get to attack per turn, it'd be limited to 9 at maz (depending on DM)
so maybe hit once per turn for 1d8x2 dmg
he could quickly kill off 16 in two turns
after that it's kill 4 per turn
that's 21 turns to kill them all
that means he takes about 200 damage from the wizards
which with second wind means the fighter probably wins
would be fun to make a cavalier fighter as well
mounted fighting

could I ride a dragon turtle as a mount?
well Volgos rides a slightly floating sea creature with the stats of a warhorse
yee but that's with "find steed", the cavalier fighter subclass doesn't list anything regarding your mount
only that you're good at riding mounts, and have advantages for doing so

obviously with a dragon turtle, it wouldn't be mature at the start of a campaign
like with drake riders for rangers
I would allow pretty much anything and then give it the stats of something reasonable

tortle cavalier fighter, riding dragon turtle in combat
or a fighter of an "order of the turtle" that really likes turtles

I had a paladin with a direwolf as a mount
Lvl 1 wizards spell list is huge though, it would have to be a kiting game
You are right tho, the moment any wizard is in melee range they're doomed
I think that even if the fighter uses a bow, he still oneshots the wizards

does the trait make me skittish, or would xopah still need to consider whatever was happening/posing a threat, to be a "risk"?

I would assume it's more that Xopah is less willing to run straight towards the danger because she might get hurt, maybe now she stands further back and heals from a distance
it's definitely up for interpretation tho

is it just me, or is the "contagion" spell a liiiitle bit overpowered?
yep, it's pretty good
two effects stand out, the first makes the target vulnerable to all damage for the duration, which lasts 7 days by the day
only if they fail 3 saves in a row tho

technically the "radiant" or "necrotic" is based on your alignment
if xopah were of evil alignment, it'd be necrotic for her as well
but can't be ilmater devotee and evil

cullen giving you a +1 sword, and xopah during fights enchanting it with holy weapon

Started doing that for me halfway making volgos. Holy shit it got me fucked up at times

peepos sometimes forget that clerics are also powerful spellcasters similar to wizards/sorcerers
the only difference being the spells are divine, instead of arcane
spell damage in general makes no sense aizo
fireball has more damage than most 5th level spells , guiding bolt outdos most 2nd level spells , etc 

but if a cleric is doing damage then the party isn't getting healed
you forget that the best CC is killing the enemy 
point is that it's a choice the cleric has to make
either do damage or help the party
also there are bonus action heals
raw you can't cast guiding bolt and a healing spell in the same turn
is why I'm always asking how hurt the party is, and that one time if beans could survive another turn
so I could use guardian spirits that turn, instead of healing

is an immersion thing, since for spells you're supposed to be waving your hands around, chanting and stuff
a turn is only 6 seconds


a few spells forego it with technicalities
for instance, aura of vitality is only a cast the first time you cast it
so hasting a pure caster is like totally terrible huh 
the folowing turns, you use a bonus action to make the spell "flare up" to heal a chosen target
so not casting it the following turns

its much worse than the fighter getting to hit 6 times a turn tho 
or the paladin getting to smite 4 times 
I'll just "holy weapon" the hasted fighter, get in 2d8 x 6 extra damage per their turn

i like getting more options as i level and D&D doesnt have many when you go up to high levels in the class 
After lvl 20 cleric xopah can go into paladin
the one thing I could do is put a single level into paladin or fighter for the fighting style

interception fits xopah better tbh

the 2 levels of wizard were my education as a kid , then after my family manor burnt down i spent my days as a traveling minstrel and after the hell we go through in the tomb ill go get official fighting training 
also since I get 6th level spells already starting at 11
and 12 adds no additional spellslots compared to 11

its basically a system were you get x amount of "points" to put into your stats , but they all start at like 8 so it prevents us from making chars that have really low stats in something which leads to funny things

i considered adding a "flaw" mechanic in my game , that would nerf one of your stats and buff another , while giving you a passive that fits
but i decided against it

a tortle cleric is a terrible pick for one, since can never wear armour, and will forever be less AC than it could have been

but it doubles as a good feature, in giving me advantage on concentration checks

paladins get their spells from their oath, not even faith in a deity
meanwhile clerics cloaking themselves in armour of absolute faith
standing on the frontlines, themselves a beacon of the divine word

i dont like having the distinction in general tbh , a paladin is just a cleric thats trained in the arts of war 
it's not even really "magic" clerics perform, but rather they're a beacon or prism of their deity's power
letting the miracles of their deity spread through themselves

paladins technically don't have to be religious whilst clerics do
most people just interpret paladins as being religious
it just doesnt make sense that you can belive in an "oath" so much that you get powers 
like if it was so easy literally everyone would make up an oath and get powers 
hence oathbreaker paladins still have powers

if my redemption paladin were to ever take the attack action, she'd become an oathbreaker

On the subject of 1 lvl 20 character against 100 lvl 1s, the lvl1s of any sort often win. The problem is the number of nat 20s which cannot happen. In the scenario mentioned, 8 wizards could try to shocking grasp the Eldritch knight per round. And that means on average one of them would crit and succeed on round 2. The two approaches that occur to me are using mobility or bombarding your own position. Any spellcaster with expeditious retreat or a particularly mobile class (especially monk) could stay just out of range, fire, and then outrun their opponents. As long as you could outrun All of the enemy, the front runners can't hold an action to fire when you briefly pop into range, because they wouldn't be able to both hold an action and sprint. And as to bombarding your position, there are a bunch of wide aoe spells which even on a save would kill most level 1s every round (maybe 2 rounds for the half-orcs).

monk items that are particularly good:
- bracers of defense(rare), giving an extra 2 AC as long as you're unarmored
- eldritch claw tattoo(uncommon), adding +1 to unarmed attack and damage rolls, and once per day for 10 minutes let's you add 1d6 force damage to your unarmed hits, and gives you 15ft range
- blood fury tattoo(legendary), 10 charges per day, when you hit you can expend a charge to add 4d6 necrotic damage which heals you for the the damage it does and when you are hit, you can expend a charge to hit back
- gloves of soul catching(legendary), adds 2d10 force damage to any unarmed strike you do, and heals you equivalent to the damage it does
Holy shit those gloves are cracked 
probably won't get your hands on legendaries, but uncommon and rare should be feasible, if the party is keeping an eye out

unfortunately, i'm a low magic item count kinda DM. You don't get cool magic items in the traditional sense

so, at level 10, xopah uses divine intervention and makes ilmater manifest her a devotee's censer flail
the censer is just plain 1d8 flail, but adds a 1d8 radiant damage to swings-- adding cleric's 1d8 from divine strike once per turn makes it 2d8 added
now add holy weapon for an additional 2d8, and xopah's swings now does 5d8+3 on a swing, as a melee cleric

Then you give us something like "This item will slowly take away your health, however it makes a cool sound when walking" type shit
F it, sharp stone of healing, you take 1d4 piercing damage if someone throws it at you but you heal 1d6 hp
