I remember watching a clip of a podcast where some grandmaster mentioned that any normal adult can reach FM without any innate talent and instead a lot of time and effort to dedicate only to chess. What about a 40 year old man with responsibilities? Let's say he has 6 hours a day to dedicate to chess, do you all think this man can reach FM or anywhere close? why or why not, and if he cant where do you think his limit would be?
#Can a random 40 year old get a chess title if they have no prior chess experience?

with some natural affinity i think 6 hours a day is definitely sufficient
im not optimistic that a working adult has that much time though😭
Haha maybe not
If he loves the game he will make time, and if thats his goal and he works every day to achieve it then its inevitable that he will achieve it
6 hours a day and sufficient funds. I think its possible
curious
that too haha
though Im not anywhere close to 40 haha
nor do I have 6h a day for chess lol
after something in my life ends (~2 weeks) i want to start working on chess seriously too
and i feel/hope one hour of focused training a day is enough for results? because i've never studied chess properly so im hoping to improve quite a bit lol
2400 without much dedicated studying is impressive
im sure you'll improve fast
how long have you been playing chess for
3 years
I don't do any focused studying either just play and analyze my games
Same I’ve been playing for 3 years but I got beaten by someone that’s only been playing for 9 months and some weeks
None specifically because I cant dedicate too much of my time to chess rn
It's possible, but do you ACTUALLY want to go through that?
this is a hypothetical im not a 40 year old man and I dont plan to dedicate my life to chess anytime soon
Ooo ok!
I mean I did it
you like bedwars and the hive i dount you're FM
my bad.
