There are so many now... I've pieced together some that are clearly better than others (sonics, rusts?) but is there a ranked list anywhere? The WR wiki lists them by DPS etc but I'm not sure that's the best measure of what weapons are more effective than others!?

There are weapons that can be "better" than others inside the T4 range, but most of the time it comes down to the role you want to give to your robot. For example, the Sonics deal a trememdous amount of damage but they are specialised for ultra-close range ; whereas the Radiation weapons are more generalist with a heavy punch up to 600m.
Overall the cycle DPS of a weapon is a good index to measure their power, as it's a standard value that can be calculated for all weapons ; but also keep an eye for all the other stats of the weapon, for example its suitability for sustained combat, or if it inflict Lockdown like the Fainter. The Rust rockets have a similar cycle DPS to the Radiations, but they significantly weaken Resistance and Healing, which are two key mechanics to keep your robot alive, and it's what make them an excellent weapon in certain (most ?) situations.
