Best advice: (what I did)
keep the current account to use as a 'tester' but then create a new one with a different log in, giving yourself two accounts to play with.
You may have to set up an additional email account to log in with gamecenter/Google or iOS.
Take the lessons learned from your first account into your second.
This way you'll have a backup or substitute that comes in really handy when you want to do advanced experimentation in a custom match when new gear comes out. I prefer this approach instead of the Test Server.
Live server > TS stats for experimentation.
