I am looking to get a new gaming PC (which i'll probably also use for some work, such as video editing etc...)

Chassis & Display
Defiance Series: 16" Matte QHD+ 240Hz sRGB 100% LED Widescreen (2560 x 1600)
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i7 16 Core Processor 14650HX (5.2GHz Turbo)
Memory (RAM)
64GB PCS PRO SODIMM DDR5 5200MHz (2 x 32GB)
Graphics Card
NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 5070Ti - 12GB GDDR7 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.2
1st M.2 SSD Drive
2TB SAMSUNG 990 PRO M.2, PCIe 4.0 NVMe (up to 7450MB/R, 6900MB/W)
AC Adaptor
1 x 230W AC Adaptor
Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre Cloverleaf UK Power Cable
Battery
1 x Defiance Battery 54WH | 73WH (5070Ti Only)
Thermal Paste
ID-COOLING FROST X45 THERMAL PASTE APPLICATION
Sound Card
2 Channel High Definition Audio + MIC/Headphone Jack
Bluetooth & Wireless
GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS INTEL® Wi-Fi 6E AX211 + BT 5.3
USB/Thunderbolt Options
2 x USB 3.2 PORTS (Type C) + 2 x USB 3.2 PORTS

I am tossing up the GFX card and RAM options, as I'm not sure if it's worth the extra few hundred £s for the Ti and 64gb

Thanks for creating a spec thread!

Please be sure to include answers to the following questions so people can assist you quicker.

  • What is the purpose of your PC/laptop? (e.g. gaming, general work, 3D rendering)
  • What monitor resolution will you be using? (e.g. 1080p, 1440p, 4k)
  • What is your budget including currency symbol? (e.g. £2,000, 1000€)
  • Is this budget just for the PC or do you need peripherals as well? (e.g. monitor, mouse, keyboard etc.)
  • Which country are you purchasing from? (Note that we only operate in the UK and Europe)
  • Any brand preferences?

If you don’t get a reply right away, please avoid reposting the same question in other channels. The community does its best to help, but responses can take time - someone may still come by with an answer soon!

oops

#

ultimately depends what games you plan to play on it and how tight your budget is

#

most games wont use more than 64GB RAM so no need to spec that high unless you also do things like CAD or video editing etc

Is the 5070Ti a significant upgrade to the 5070?

hardy trellis
#

results will obviously vary alot as it isnt comparable to a desktop 5070/ti etc

#

its about 33% better which is quite significant but again can entirely depend on what you plan to play

I've never been fussed about playing things on Ultra, but if I am going to go ham with the other specs, it seems worth it to get the Ti 😂

I believe if you were to choose the Defiance Pro you'd get a 14900HX for around £80 more but it will likely get a bit hotter

What's the ventilation like on the Defiance cases?

this is the back from a TechRadar post

#

those vents are also on both sides of the laptop so allround cooling

Good shout on the Pro, same specs all around, but a i9 rather than i7, and basically the same price

Just know that naturally it'll use more power when not plugged in so you'll find the battery will drain quicker

That should be fine, it'll basically stay at home anyway

#

But thanks for the heads up

Is PCS PRO SODIMM DDR5 5200MHz XMP certified RAM? I've heard the i9 processors can be a bit inefficient without the right RAM
