Hey guys.
After buying a very good PC here for myself my brother asked for advice, and I'd like some feedback about the results from the setup I put together for him:

https://www.pcspecialist.ch/gespeicherte-konfigurationen/amd-am5-pc/SGee7aWFHc/

Budget: 2000-2500 CHF
Buy from: Switzerland
Used for: Gaming
Resolution: atm FullHD but there will be an upgrade to 2560x1440
No peripherals
Brand dosn't matter

The only changes I really made to my own setup (which I am very happy with) are the CPU (7800X3D still out of stock) and a bit an upgrade in Motherboard, as it is possible my brother wants to upgrade to a Nvidia 5000 sometime later. Otherwise I would take the B650 (he has Lan)

Is the X870 worth it?

i think the short answer right now is probably no for most standard PC users/gamers. Especially if you can get a good X670E or even B650E board.

#

we're probably paying a "new gen" premium right now for X870

Thank you. Them I‘ll recomend the B650 for him

Managed to change up a few items

Downgraded mobo to B650 Plus WIFI
GPU changed to 7900XTX
PSU changed to 850W
2TB SSD upgraded to much faster version

All in budget at 2489 CHF

just be aware that B650 motherboards have PCIe 4.0 GPU slot and the Nvidia 5000 are expected to run on PCIe 5.0 (although would still work in a PCIe 4.0 slot just not as fast). a B650E or X670E baord would have a PCIe 5.0 slot but only the Pro Art X670E board is in the configurator and is much more expensive. it may be worth going with a X870 board if you want to take full advantage of a 5000 series GPU in the future

its just a sacrifice whether you want better parts and performance but a 'slight' downgrade by going PCIe gen 4, but if they are going 5000 series then why select a gpu now? not really a need to buy a gpu now if 5000 series is around the corner

#

just save up that little extra

well i don't think he will upgrade to a 5000 series. But I just thought it could be an option.
I think the 7900XTX is a bit OP for a 2k setup (in the moment still FullHD). He will not be mad if it's under 2500 😄
But still thank you

If you want to reduce cost then a 7800XT is still a great card for a bit less. 16GB is more than plenty
