Thanks for creating a spec thread!

Please be sure to include answers to the following questions so people can assist you quicker.

  • What is the purpose of your PC/laptop? (e.g. gaming, general work, 3D rendering)
  • What monitor resolution will you be using? (e.g. 1080p, 1440p, 4k)
  • What is your budget including currency symbol? (e.g. £2,000, 1000€)
  • Which country are you purchasing from? (Note that we only operate in the UK and Europe)
  • Any brand preferences?

Apart from that I can't see any howlers

Great thanks mate

yeah, absolutely nothing left wanting, the best overall CPU AMD has to offer, lots of fast RAM on the sweet spot, great storage solution, even the case is beautiful

maybe swap to white power cables to stand out/pop a little, but thats personal taste

Im getting a pc around december and i dont know if i should get 4080 super or 4070 ti super because i dont want to spend the extra on the 4080 when the 5000 and 6000 will come out what u you think.

naive wasp
#

iirc by briefly checking your build it was a £150 difference, but i believe you can upgrade your GPU via PCS

#

either way youd be paying a premium to upgrade to a 5000/6000 series but it also just depends on the use case of your PC

slim gorge
#

if you get a 40 series card, you should wait and skip a generation, so at the earliest get one with the 60 series, as you'd not be getting much of a performance bump generally

#

I'd recommend the get the 4070 ti S if you want to save money, as the VRAM is the same capacity, and the perormance generally isn't that much less as you can see from the chart

naive wasp
#

unless you're super competitive and need the extra what, like 15ish fps, anything above 60fps on 1440p ultra is good enough for most cases

dry bramble
#

The case is the fractal north XL

naive wasp
#

like b4z originally mentioned above it all looks good but if you arent going to be a 'competitive' gamer then the 4080s as Drleft said would just be a bit of a waste. That extra £150 saving can just go straight in a pot towards 6000 series cards

slim gorge
#

or on the shorter term, more storage as games contuinue to need more and more space

dry bramble
#

Il probably play fortnite at 240fps on the lowest settings but thats it

naive wasp
#

15 fps for £150 extra is not a great benefit to be honest. Sure you'll be getting a 'higher end card with a name that sounds cooler' but for a what like 12% gain from the 4070TiS? not really worth

royal bluff
dry bramble
#

And in 1440p il probably use fg and dlss

naive wasp
dry bramble

My current pc is a i5 9400f and rtx 2060 blower card its so loud so i hope the ti super and the aio will be less loud

#

Also would the ti super run vr at 90hz high settings?

naive wasp
#

i assume when you say 90hz thats the vr headset's refresh rate?

dry bramble
#

Yes

naive wasp
#

i doubt youd see any issues at all

dry bramble
#

Great thanks!

naive wasp
#

what vr headset do you have perchance?

#

some of the newer, higher-end games will require higher-end machines to be able to run well, but ALOT of games have such a low requirement that even the most potato desktop PC nowadays could probably run it to 'some' degree

dry bramble
#

Quest 2 but i will upgrade to the quest 3

naive wasp
#

yeah you should be fine then 🙂

dry bramble
#

Yeah il only use quest headsets no valve index or anything

dry bramble
#

My final build choice

#

Btw im picking the 7800x3d

#

Is it ok

naive wasp
#

is there any need for the X670E? you could save yourself a bit if you dropped to the B650-PLUS WIFI

#

other than that seems all good

dry bramble
#

@naive wasp yeah i need a lot of 3.0 ports

dry bramble
#

Im getting my pc on the 18th of november will the 7800x3d and fratal north xl be in stock?

strong harness
#

¯_(ツ)_/¯

deep olive
#

the 9800X3D might be out by then!

naive wasp

dry bramble
#

Would a 4070 ti super run games at 1440p 120fps high settings while streaming?

naive wasp
#

Depends what games you’re asking about

dry bramble
#

Silent hill 2 remake - alan wake 2 - resident evil 4 - 90hz max settings vr

you can check out some benchmarking of the 4070 Ti Super here: https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpus/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-ti-super-review/2, this excludes any load on the GPU for VR and streaming. Alan Wake 2 seems to be a very draining game on highest settings (~50fps)! as per Airbus, its going to be a game-dependent balancing act either you lower graphics settings to get 120fps or you play on high settings and accept a lower frame rate. or you keep saving for a better GPU but at some point it becomes a bit like chasing your own tail!

dry bramble
#

Would a 4080 super be more consistent then?

deep olive
#

higher fps yes, but still game dependent. you can check out a bunch of average and per-game benchmarking here https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html again this excludes VR and streaming, and the 1440p benchmarks are done on "ultra" settings, so if you drop down one or two graphics settings you will most likely get better fps than shown in the charts. of course the 4090 gives a bump up in performance over the rest of the cards and there is always the 50-series releasing early next year if your wallet is mega-deep

Tom's Hardware

We've run hundreds of GPU benchmarks on Nvidia, AMD, and Intel graphics cards and ranked them in our comprehensive hierarchy, with over 80 GPUs tested.

dry bramble
#

I would play at 1440p and stream at 1080p60 aslong as the games would have like 60 to 90 fps thats good for me.

deep olive
#

so 4070 TI Super most likely be fine

dry bramble
#

Is this ok?

be aware on that mobo that the primary PCle slot ( GPU slot) shares bandwidth with the 2nd M.2 drive, and will run at X8 speed rather then X16 when the 2nd M.2 drive is in use. The performance impact may be small but you could move the 2nd M.2 drive to the 3rd slot to avoid this.
