New PC Gaming

Hello everyone, within 1-2 months I’d like to buy a new Gaming PC and I tried to configure one on the website. I wanted to get some advice.

I want to clarify two things:
First, I already have an RTX 3080, and I will be installing that in the PC. I’m configuring the new PC in anticipation of next year’s release of the 5000 series.
Second, the CPU I selected is temporary (so I could reach the quote page and take a screenshot). In reality, I’d like to install the AMD Ryzen 7800X3D, which is currently unavailable, but I can easily wait for it to be restocked.

What do you think? I was undecided about whether to install three additional top fans and a liquid cooling system for the CPU. Any advice?

by liquid cooling, do you mean an AIO or a custom loop?

however regardless, I would recommend to have the radiator on top, as while it does result in the CPU running a little hotter due to the GPU exhaust, it really is just a few C at most, and allows the GPU, the more important part for 1440 and above gaming, to run cooler

for more advice however we'd need to know from where you are ordering the PC and what budget you're looking at

I think an AIO is better for me. I’m not that experienced, and in case I need to replace parts myself in the future, I don’t want to risk damaging anything. I’m not very handy with this stuff, haha!

I used the 9700X as a stand in, as I have to pick a CPU, but as the 7800X3D is out of stock, I picked the next one in line

I picked the TUF 670E as ypou said you want to feed the PC a 50 series, which is rumored to be on PCIe 5, so to avoid throttling the GPU due to the PCIe standard not being high enough I went with that board

yeah, that motherboard is PCIe 4, so for a 50 series, according to rumors, you'll need a different board to not slow down the GPU

the m.2 deson't need to be as fast, gen4 is just fine too

the case is a good case though, however you'll probably want to add 4 fans later, 1 rear exaust, and 3 intakes at the bottom

I would recommend the Frost flow 360 for the CPU, it's is more than needed, but italy can get quiet warm, so more cooling is better

I would also recommend you go for a 1000W PSU, according to rumors and leaks, the 50 series are going to be power hungry beasts

basically this is what I'd recommend, the gen 5 m.2 drives really are just for the professionals in editing and such

I’m aiming for a 5080 for the GPU; do you think 850W would be enough or am I wrong?
It’s more than enough for a 4090 at the moment, and an 80-series card shouldn’t differ too much.

the tdp for the 5080 or 5090 is rumored to hit 600W, so the whole system is looking at 900W+ after CPU, storage, RAM, any RGB, fans/pumps

the RAM, RGB, storage, pump and fans, are not gonna be a huge power draw, but they can add up fast

rumors and leakers, I know, but NVidia have not exactly been kind as far as reducing power draw generation after generation, with the 4080 already being more at home with an 850W PSU, I'd say you should prepare for more

Yeah, we’re talking about possibilities and few certainties. It’s true that rumors and leaks have almost always been accurate about these things, but I wouldn’t want to overreach.
Although, by taking more of a risk now, I’d be more future-proof in the long run.

At the moment, I’ve saved this configuration.

Obviously, the CPU will be the 7800X3D as soon as it becomes available.

Do you have any particular comments about the case? I chose this one because it seemed well-equipped and elegant, but if there are better options, I’m all ears!

the case is best using unifans from lian li, as it comes with 3 unifans already and has a controller installed already.

the fans are more expensive, but are good, and easy to install

you can get them as reverse bladed options as well, so you can ahve the "pretty" side of the fans facing up in the bottom

but overall the case is great, as you can do ALOT of customization, like change the front panel for a mesh one with fan mounts

you can also do a vertical mount on the GPU easily enough too, generally a great case if you ahve the money and space for it

I’ve always kept the case on the floor. (Are there any issues with this case in that position?)

And I’ve always kept it to my left, so I wouldn’t be able to see the glass side very often, just the top, but that’s not a problem.

it's fine to be on the floor then, it would still be better on a desk, but not nearly as bad as carpet

I would still recommend setting the PC on a sheet or lino or on wood, just to keep it off the tiles directly, or on a PC stand of some sort

Very very very few cases offer the ability to have everything backwards

It has to be a case that can specifically do it, cos lets face it no-one really want to just be able to see the back of a motherboard

From a very quick google, this is an example of some of them (https://graphicscardhub.com/inverted-pc-case-atx-matx/), I do not know if PCS would install into them though

Good morning everyone, I’ve updated the setup I’d like to purchase.

Unfortunately, the 7800X3D is still unavailable and now has an ETA of 31/01/2025. I was thinking of going for a 9700X instead—what do you think?

Additionally, the ASUS TUF GAMING 670E-Plus WiFi motherboard is no longer available either, so I opted for the ASUS® PRIME X870-P WIFI (AM5, DDR5, M.2 PCIe 5.0, Wi-Fi 7).

Do you have any advice?

Currently, if I include the 9800X3D in the configuration, the price goes up to €2000.

option would be to drop to a cheaper mobo like a B650 but you will lose the PCIe 5.0 GPU slot that may be useful for the 50-series GPU you were thinking of upgrading to, and it will still go over budget. the 9700X is a decent CPU as an alternative to a X3D chip, as per the Toms Hardware benchmark, if you need to buy now in budget
