#AMD build - some help requested please

Hi all.

I'm putting together an AMD build using the configurator and the chosen spec is as follows:

Fractal North XL
Ryzen 7950x3d
Corsair H150i LCD
Asus TUF Gaming X670E-Plus Wi-Fi
64GB Corsair Vengeance 6000mhz
RTX 4090
1000w PSU
4TB M.2

My concerns are around the memory offered. I have selected the 6000mhz as that's the sweet spot I think for AMD Expo but no one can seem to tell me for sure what the RAM is so I can ensure it's going to be okay with AMD/Expo as most seem to be for Intel XMP3.0 and I don't want to have stability issues. Can anyone help me out? I don't want to go down to 5600mhz as the price is the same. Ideally I'd like to see the manufacturers page for the offered RAM so I can check?

The main usage is flight simulation. I have a 4k monitor selected and a budget of £4000-4500 but I'd prefer to stay around 4000 which is where it's at now. I am from the UK.

Thanks for creating a spec thread!

Please be sure to include answers to the following questions so people can assist you quicker.

  • What is the purpose of your PC/laptop? (e.g. gaming, general work, 3D rendering)
  • What monitor resolution will you be using? (e.g. 1080p, 1440p, 4k)
  • What is your budget including currency symbol? (e.g. £2,000, 1000€)
  • Which country are you purchasing from? (Note that we only operate in the UK and Europe)
  • Any brand preferences?

This is what I came up with

#

It should be enoigh for anything and everything you might want to do

Do you know if the RAM selected (same as mine) is expo ram? Does it have to be?

Yeah it is

How can you tell?

I looked it up on Corsair's website

Can you link me to it please?

I can't tell how to differentiate with the name

My only concern is in the configuration it doesn't include the AMD bit?

PCS will have tested the RAM they use to make sure it is stable

#

No matter what its called

Stable is one thing but better optimised and intended for is another? No point in installing RAM that's optimised for Intel only?

#

Just want some reassurance that I won't be swapping the included ram out for the AMD one above when I find it's not liking not having a loadable expo profile? Unless I'm misunderstanding the way it's done

If you just mean running at its proper speed (ie using XMP/DCOP/whatever they call it now - EXPO by the sounds of things) it should run perfectly fine and stably at that speed, PCS will test to make sure it can run at the advertised 6000/6400 (depending which you go fer)

Thank you, appreciate it! Sounds good 🙂

I think it's called DCOP in the bios but not sure.
