#

gonna be using it for gaming 1080p uk

hollow vessel
#

What's the budget?

#

Got a link for that build as well?

hexed whale
#

£1400

#

and no i can’t get a link cuz i alrdy bought it

#

just wanted a second opinion

hollow vessel
#

Well you can still make changes up until the point it ships

#

I would have maybe have seen if the 5800X3D or 5700X3D was in budget, they've be stronger gaming CPU. There's no wifi card? Just in case you need that. I'd rec two SSD, rather than one and partition it.

hexed whale
#

5800x3d is good but way more out of budget

hollow vessel
#

Well just as long as you have a decent ethernet connection then

hexed whale
#

could always upgrade later

hollow vessel
#

Check some benchmarks for 5700X3D vs 5800X for gaming?>

hexed whale
#

5700x3d still a bit out of budget

#

but no i havnt

hollow vessel
#

I believe it's cheaper and I think the 3D cache will have a greater impact on games, rather than higher clock speed

This review & benchmark of the new AMD R7 5700X3D Ryzen CPU tests the 2024 launch vs. AMD's R7 5800X3D, the modern 7800X3D, Intel's 14600K, and plenty of other CPUs. The primary focus is on the R7 5700X3D vs. the 5800X3D, as many AM4 owners may be seeking one final upgrade before...

#

probably

#

its 100$ more

#

but ye it does outperform the 5800x

hollow vessel
#

Mmm check PCS again, I'm seeing the 5700X3D is cheaper than 5800X in their config

#

£24 cheaper, but it's the better gaming CPU as you can see

#

Anyway, you asked for advice, so that's what I have

hexed whale
#

how can i edit an order

hexed whale
hollow vessel
#

You can login to PCS website, using the email you used to order, and then amend the order

hexed whale
#

amend cancels it?

#

or how does it work

hollow vessel
#

Amend will allow you to change components. So it will list the parts in a drop down, similar to when you ordered it and you change it to something else. If the new part is more expensive, you pay the difference, if it's cheaper, they'll refund the difference

hexed whale
#

perfect

#

let me check

hollow vessel
#

No charge for making changes up until it's built

#

Thereafter they can still make changes but there is an additonal fee

hexed whale
#

so u think it’s worth going 5700x3d

hollow vessel
#

Oh 100%, if your main/only use is gaming, you get the CPU that's best for that. On the AMD platform that's 5800X3D and 5700X3D second

hexed whale
#

it’s charging me 5$ for the change but i’ll do it

hollow vessel
#

Obviously there's newer CPUs that are better, but I'm guessing you're working to your budget

hexed whale
#

bought the 5700x3d

#

thanks

#

for the help

#

only reason i went with the 5800x is cuz my brother has it with his 3080ti and it works pretty well, never knew the 5700x3d was better

hollow vessel
#

It's relatively new

#

Came out 6 months ago, after AM5 launched

hexed whale
#

ohhh it released this year

#

that makes sense

#

quick question, when upgrading this build in let’s say 5 years time, to change to am5 i would need to switch out motherboard and cpu rigtht?

hollow vessel
#

Yep, RAM too

hexed whale
#

that would go to ddr5 right?

hollow vessel
#

Correct

hexed whale
#

perfect thanks

#

im not a hardcore gamer so this build should run perfectly for me for the next couple of years

#

appreciate the help

hollow vessel
#

I'd say so, it's a good GPU, that's the main thing you need for sustained gaming

hexed whale
#

i just had a 1080 with i7-7700k

#

10 years old

#

it broke down so had to switch

hollow vessel
#

A good innings

hexed whale
#

yep my first amd build so hope it’s all smooth

hollow vessel
#

AMD is 👑

hexed whale
#

DPD damaged the pc and sent it back to pcspecialist so i’m waiting on my refund and i’m gonna get an am5 build

#

@hollow vessel sorry for the ping but by any chance could you help me make a £1400 budget am5 build including the 7900GRE, i don’t have much knowledge when it comes to am5

hollow vessel
#

Bit tight to make a £1400 with a 7900

hexed whale
#

u reckon?

#

i know it’s pretty easy if i were to build it myself but id prefer buying from pcs as they give a guarantee

#

That's just under budget, but it's a 7600XT

hexed whale
#

thanks question about the 5 7600x

#

is it better or worse than a 7 5700x3d on a am4 build

hallow swift
#

hard to compare them, though I'd say the 7600X is slightly better overall

#

the chart B4zookaw sent shows it is a bit better, plus it's got upgrade options, as the 5700X3D is only marginally behind a 5800X3D, to the point where upgrading from 5700 to 5800 X3D is pointless

hollow vessel
#

But if you’re able to get a 7900 GRE with a 5700X3D vs a 7600X and a 7600XT, the former pairing will win. Particularly because 1440 gaming is less cpu intensive.

hallow swift
#

they said they'd be gaming at 1080, so the 7900GRE is overkill

hollow vessel
#

My bad.

hexed whale
#

și

#

so

#

i ordered the 7 5700x 3d, 7900 GRE build we talked about

#

it arrived

#

red light at cpu on motherboard

#

pc won’t display on screen

lofty lynx
#

if its stuck on the red light i would give pcs a call

hexed whale
#

decided to open it up and check what’s up

#

reset the cmos battery and replugged in ram + gpu to mother board cables wernt plugged in properly

#

now it booted up and i’m installing windows 11 as we speak

hollow vessel
#

Sometimes things shake loose in transit. Hopefully that's the case here, so once you have windows installed you should run some stress tests or benchmarking tools to confirm all is stable

hexed whale
#

got windows installed

#

gonna buy a key soon

hexed whale
#

gpu or the motherboard gpu connection is broken

#

getting it sent back

hallow swift
#

likely a dying GPU, sometimes they come from the factory waiting to become a lemon.
it probably held it together long enough to make it past testing and once packed starts dying

hexed whale
#

but ye pretty much doodoo

#

gpu seems to be leaning wayyy to much too

#

shi just came like this out the box

#

i’m assuming it was damaged

hallow swift
#

you could give the GPU a hail mary reseat, but honestly, I wouldn't bother

hexed whale
#

called em and i’m getting a replacement

#

look at these tears

#

it’s clear the pc was damaged during transport

#

enough to bend metal

hallow swift
#

yeah, it 100% took a kicking in transit, unfortunately 💩 happens, but PCS will make it right

hexed whale
#

they are, they’ve already sent dpd over tmrw to collect it

#

pcs customer service is amazing

#

just got unlucky

hallow swift
#

if it makes you feel better, my previous machine got delivered by Fedex, they took the PC on a victory lap of the city I'm in for no reason, and the PC also took a hit, the side panel was broken(glass intact) the case dented worse than yours, and even the PSU was warped

hollow vessel
#

That does look very wonky (GPU).

A measure of a company is how they deal with issues when they do occur, not that an issue has occurred
