a custom build might be a better option for you, what kind of work and games are you looking at?

for work, would be CAD drawings for construction projects (autoCAD & Revit). Gaming would be mid to high range FPS games.

as much as I want to recommend AMD, CAD programs can be monstrous CPU hogs, what kind of split are we looking at? 50/50 work-gaming or more 10/90 work-gaming?

50/50 work-gaming

in that case intel is likely better for you, even if the current intel CPUs are an upgrade dead end

#

the 14th gen is the last on the current socket, so short of basically a new PC, CPU upgrades are limited

okay, thanks for your messages.

though between the 2 next day PCs, the AMD option is better I think, because all the cores are equally fast, the intel one only has 44 P cores, and 6 e-cores that are noticaably slower

#

the AMD PC also sports faster RAM, which is good for work too

I'll go for the AMD build then so. Thanks for the clarification.
