Hi all!

Apologies in advance if I sound like a beginner (I am 😂)

So I’m looking to get a decent PC to be able to:
Stream video games to twitch (not competitive)
Video editing (not high level)
General Microsoft office etc

Budget 2-3k

I have found the Odin RS on PC Specialist https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers-for-next-day-delivery/1407/

I thought this looked good but reading some information on the PC Spec forums, apparently the Intel chip isn’t great and the cooling system isn’t sufficient?

Could anyone advise if this would be a decent purchase for my needs or possibly recommend a build?

I’m learning slowly 😅
Thanks in advance

you can also opt for the 4080 Super, the Nvidia encoding does make life a bit easier for twitch screaming, but honestly if it's not as important, then I'd leave it be

#

you could go for a 4090, and it wouldburst the budget some, but honestly I doubt it's worth it, the 7900XTX and the 4080 super are still amazing GPUs

the 14700 and 14900 CPUs are great for productivity, but not so great for gaming due to how insanely hot they get

#

opted for a big beefy case, with the party trick of an additional fan to feed the GPU some more air

#

you can see the fan a bit better in this pic

If you're wanting to stream and video edit, then I would be tempted to go with an NVIDIA gpu over AMD especially given the upcoming improvements to Twitch encoding which will lean more on NVIDIA cards.

You can get a similar build to the above with a 4080 super for a bit more money:

I'd get the bigger case personally, and I avoid iCue controlled stuff like the plague due to how tempramental the program can be

#

the bigger case has the feature of the additional fan blowing at the GPU, which can be exchanged down the line as it's a standard 120mm fan, and while the Lancool 215 is a solid case, it is more on the budget end, and if you're dropping the better part of 3 grand, you might as well have something to show for it

#

but it is valid that the 4080 will do better for twitch due to the nvidia encoding

Thanks for replies. Really appreciate it.

Are there any other difference between the two graphics cards you both suggested?

So the nvidia one is better for twitch, but does it matter that it’s 16gb rather than 24gb?

Also, is there a reason for the 500gb hardwire rather than 2tb ones? Other than the price of course.

Thanks in advance

I'm at the gym RN, so answer from me won't be eloquent, but 16gb vram is slowly becoming less impressive, and when lots of vram is needed, and isn't available it causes fps drops

#

As for the storage, short version is windows doesn't like to share, and 4tb total isn't needed

#

So a small fast windows drive, and a bigger slower but still fast storage drive is best practice

Thanks very much.

I’ll have to remember that when I get the pc and install windows.

Unless pc specialist does that before delivery? They’d know to install it that way I presume?
