#Hi, I'm looking for a new system, starting from scratch. I've about £2k-£2.5k budget.

Intent is primarily from gaming, with occasional light office apps type use - No production/editing work.
I have an LG Ultragear 27GL83A-B 27" display so not looking to update that.
I'm in the UK, so buying from there.

I've seen the Talon Extreme on website (spec below) and wondered what if anything I could improve in that mix (apart from more storage). From performance reviews I've seen I don't think the 7900X3D is an option, more a step back. I'm mindful there are new releases due July so also wondering if I should wait and see how their fair:
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
Windows 11 Home
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB 5200MHz
16GB AMD RADEON™ RX 7800 XT GAMING
2TB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2

Thanks

the 7900X3D is a solid CPU, but more productivity focused, for gaming the 7800X3D is genuinely better, cheaper too

#

with the budget of 2-2.5 grnad you can probably do better though

#

lets see what I can do for you on a spec

#

the monitor your have has a 144Hz refresh, most, if not all games on high, if not ultra 1440p should hit 144 fps

#

you can opt for the 4080Super, or the 7900XTX, the XTX is the better of the 3 cards, and costs less than the 4080Super, but the Super does have some features such as better AI stuff like upscaling and frame generation, but with the monitor, they won't really matter

#

you could also consider a larger case, but the Lancool 215 is a solid overall case,

Thanks very much for your advice.

@misty crypt You mention a larger case, are there any you would recommend, or conversely steer clear of?

If money was not a concern, the be quiet 800, or the Asus PorArt case would be my personal picks

#

however Fractal North/XL would be high in my picks

#

as to which to steer clear of, these:

#

the first 2 is more about the software for the RGB, it's buggy as hell, the cases themselves are fine.

the last 2 are just plain enormous, they are damn near their own appartments

#

the other cases to avoid would be the Fractal Define 7 and the fractal pop, they go all into making the PC quiet, and the airflow is minimal due to it
