no PC will realistically last 8-10 years, especially at 1 grand, a case will likely be the only part that can last that long

Sticking to around your £1k budget, I would suggest something like this as a starting point which gives you future upgradability to make the system last a bit longer. But as DrLeft says, no system (no matter how expensive) is going to last you 8-10 years. I had a 2700k system which was top end in 2012 that I replaced in 2019 as it really was at the end of its gaming life. This setup should last a good 3 years and allows you to upgrade the CPU and/or graphics card later to more powerful ones if you wanted to get a few more years out of it.
If you are able to stretch to a £1,200 that opens up some more doors for better performance, but again you're not going to increase the longevity by a vast amount.
