I live in Illinois so I think it's 7ft that's the longest Snake I can own so most of them are under that on the list

Best beginner animals I see here are Mandarins (assuming you can get the enclosure cool enough), corn snakes, and potentially king snakes

The rest aren’t horrible but would lean more to intermediate

My first snake was a BCI and he made a great beginner snake, though I do recommend going for a male there for the smaller size, because even a non-dwarf shouldn't hit 7ft as far as I know

but yeah really can't go wrong with a corn snake like everyone else is saying

what I love about the BCI or other boas as a first snake is that I think they teach you a lot about the body language of a snake and also make good teachers for learning to handle a snake with very little risk involved
