What is the difference between three.core.min.js and three.module.min.js ? Is there any documentation?

It sounds like you're looking at build/files for the (as yet unreleased!) r171 version. All documentation on the site is for the current r170 release, which does not have the .core builds. Once r171 is released the documentation will be updated to match.
