Hello! I have a question about the billing on Azure Firewall using Availability Zones. I am working to deploy the terraform version of CAF enterprise scale using Virtual WAN. Inside the configuration there is an option to deploy azure firewall with availability zones. When looking at the pricing calculator for vWan I only see an option for the firewall sku and data transfer options. When I got to the azure firewall calculator there is an option for “Logical firewall units”, which I assumed might be when deployed in an AZ but I can’t seem to find any mention of what a logical firewall unit is other than on the calculator.

On the azure firewall “features” page it mentions:
“There's no additional cost for a firewall deployed in more than one Availability Zone. However, there are added costs for inbound and outbound data transfers associated with Availability Zones. For more information, see Bandwidth pricing details.”

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/firewall/features#availability-zones

Just curious if anyone has any insight into this? I think I would definitely want the AZ deployment but maybe not the price of 2 or 3 of them mortyderp

Much appreciated in advance.

Only a single azFW unit runs at the time and replication cost of its configuration is what the multiAZ cost actually means. Think about it as scaleset that either run in one or another AZ, but has to copy its configuration files
