We want to help facilitate members of the community submitting their own creations for running in our famous Tactical Tuesday event. Below are the details that you'll want to consider and ideally adhere to if you want to create a mission for us to run during that event.
Available airframes
- The airframes available in the mission should cover a significant portion of the most popular modules that fit within the timeframe of the mission. There isn't really an exact figure, as it depends on a lot of factors, but aim for at least 8 slots per airframe that you choose. Look at our PvE missions on the Dynamic PvE server for examples. Attached to this post is a chart showing the most popular airframes from our annual survey
Briefing
- Your mission should have a clear briefing, explaining the scenario and tasks that people should be doing (if applicable). Basically, someone should be able to pick up the mission, and through either reading an attached PDF briefing, or the in-game briefing, figure out everything they need to know about flying it.
Kneeboards
- Your mission should ideally have nice kneeboards which pilots can reference mid-mission to get their bearings or remind themselves of critical information. Photos of targets and other points of interest is always helpful.
Scenario
- We are happy to run a wide variety of different scenarios, but we do not want any missions which simulate real, ongoing and open conflicts. We prefer that the scenario be distanced from that either by timeframe (for example, a Gulf War mission is fine, as that conflict ended many years ago, but a Ukraine War mission would not) or by fictionalising the parties involved (generic 'red vs blue' factions or completely fictional sides, Ace Combat style)
- It is best if your scenario has a variety of different taskings available for people to do. Some people prefer to fly CAP, other Strike, some CAS, and other people only fly helos, so it's good to include something for everyone to do.
Difficulty
- Our Tactical Tuesday missions are intended to be accessible for all. That doesn't mean that they have to be easy, just that they shouldn't require highly specialised or advanced skillsets that might put significant numbers of people off of flying. For example, a mission that is only possible to complete using air-to-air refuelling will likely not be considered for Tactical Tuesday, as a lot of people won't feel confident enough to fly it. These mechanics can be encouraged, but shouldn't be essential.
I hope this provides all of the information that you'll need to feel confident submitting a mission for consideration for Tactical Tuesday! But bear in mind, submission does not give any guarantee we will run it, and they are all considered on a case-by-case basis.
If you have any questions about the requirements, please post them here.
