Recently came back to this game, this time playing on my work computer, Mac IOS.
It seems whenever the computer goes into sleepmode, progress stops in the game and everything halts.
Refreshing when i come back doesnt help either to get back "lost time".
Is this a known issue that has a fix?

not related to mac, this is a universal browser thing. "offline time" is calculated when you load the game. if your computer is in sleep mode and you wake it up, there is no load happening, the game is already loaded. but you gain no progress otherwise because all of the game timers were paused while your computer was asleep.
tldr: close the game before your computer goes to sleep
