Sand Fleas are an aggressive pest that likes to infest animals like humans. They come with a nasty bite and are extremely toxic to tissue. An example is the bacterial infection called "tungiasis" caused by females burrowing into their host. Because they have such a gruesome attack style I think they'd be perfect for a higher tier dangerous nuisance mob.
