Button Master 2: The Copy Room

Code: GCM-538-DQC

In this singleplayer adventure map, you will get to meet the Button Master personally, and take on his new advancements in button pushing. Many devious and interesting challenges await you. A lot of the level design was inspired by Mario Maker red coin levels. Have fun. Should all be foolproof.

Features:
-Puzzles/Parkour
-Dialogue
-Easy Mode (Recommended)
-In game player review
-Tech (AAAAAA)
-Secret fart button
-Everything else

cement level will break you

#

it also is way bigger than all the other levels combined

#

even getting to the level is tricky

Update: Removed 2000 unecessary wall pieces and deleted half the grass in the yard to reduce lag, its like 20% better now

Finally got around to playing 🙂

Notes as I work my way through:
Man the framerate really hurts on Xbox series X
Were the annoying doors really necessary?
I liked the "crime". I didn't steal anything 🙂
I love the Button Master and his dialogue! I missed the part where he suggested the order to do things in (I read slow) and I can't get him to repeat it.
Maybe give the Button Master a wardrobe (unless letting the player steal his armor would ruin things later)
Grass puzzle was great! I love how you implemented that!
I could have done without the parkour in the stem level. Combined with the framerate issues, it is making it kind of annoying.
Did not enjoy the parkour very much.
I like that the Button Master confirmed what I thought might have been cheese though.
I like the progression of things deteriorating in the mushroom level.
I accidentally stepped in the teleporter on one of them near the end and had to go through again and it took me a while to figure out which one I missed. An indication on each floor of the button has been found already would be nice.
Ugh, more parkour. Gonna stop for now and come back later.
Overall, fun puzzles but the framerate+parkour combo makes it much less enjoyable

Yup framerate is huge issue. Theres also input delay. Its dumb because it just doesnt feel like a big map to me. Parkour was fun with good fps, i promise. i could manage it after it got bad fps, but only because i had practiced the jumps. TYSM for feedback. I reckon nobody is getting to the end of this one on xbox if even the series X cant handle it. Also all of your notes of things to change are things i agree with.

Its a big big big big shame that i cant make a map bigger than a few buildings without the game just crapping out on me

#

really not sure how to move forward in playgrounds.

#

I only care about making big contraptions that interact with each other, and if you put down too many gizmos that lags the game. It sucks. ive been burning out on playgrounds for this exact reason

#

Started making button master 3, but stopped after two days, because the game was already lagging. Nah

#

im upset!

Sorry man 😦
I wonder if ash cement walls would have better perf than mushroom walls? Maybe it doesn't have to draw things behind the walls then.
You could consider adding a teleporter to enable players to skip the parkour if they fall more than N times.
I hope I don't burn out before I release my first level. It is getting really close to done.

#

How many gizmos do you have? My level currently has maybe 200-300 and the framerate seems fine most of the time. It is a very compact level though so not nearly as much geometry as yours.

im not sure how many gizmos. Probably over 1000, theres 4 dialogue areas, 3 memory systems, large chained switch gate calculations, 60 transmitter channels used, an endless amount of timers for ending sequences. The level sends you back to the beginning to redo everything and i have a whole seperate set of calculations and quest markers and extra shortcuts only for that second time

#

ty again for taking the time. Im not sure its worth fixing this map after hearing its laggy on Series X. Since i have a series S, i was kinda hoping praying the difference would be night and day.

#

cant change mush to ash since the level is called mush level and stuff, and the parkour is supposed to be easy. its just not with lag. fixing things to 'compensate' for the lag i think is bad idea. I feel like i should delete the thread

😦
I wouldn't throw it all away. It was still fun to play and sparked a few ideas in me for future levels. The mechanics are really neat.
