#Should I include fictional work in my portfolio?

Hey everyone, I have a question regarding portfolio building for Graphic Design / UX/UI.
I’m currently working on my portfolio and I’m unsure about how much of it should be based on real-world briefs versus self-initiated concepts.

Here's the question:
Do you think it is valid and professional to showcase projects that are entirely self-conceptualized, without a real client or existing product?

Related questions if you’re open to sharing:

What type of projects did you include in your portfolio (client work, redesigns, fictional apps, case studies, etc.)?

Do you follow a specific design or UX process when building a portfolio piece (research, wireframing, prototyping, testing, visual design)?

How do you usually generate ideas and choose what projects are worth developing into full case studies?

Thanks in advance for any advice or examples—anything helps.
