#Removing a variable mode from a layer

I previously set up a collection of variables with a few modes and set a frame to use one of the modes. After decided to try another route I deleted that variable collection. However, the layer still has the mode assigned to it and collection appears in side panel even though there's no listing for them under local variables any longer. How is it possible to remove the mode from the layer?

You probably still have layers within the frame that are using the variables you deleted. If you detach those layers from the variables the mode will stop showing up

I struggled with this quite a bit as well. Eventually, when variable mode just kept showing despite deleting the collection, I just duplicated the layer and deleted the original (works for instances as well), and the mode was gone.

Thanks for the help. There was a layer still using the deleted variable. The variable mode is gone from the properties panel but the mode tag still appears beside the frame name in the layers panel. Ah well.
