whole oracle
I recently moved, and my nearby LGS has primarily casual players who don't play with super expensive decks/cards. My old decks are from a long time ago, so many of the cards that were cheap when I built them are... not cheap anymore, to say the least. So I'm building a deck that I can play in this LGS's special "lightweight EDH" nights where decks must be under US$200 (Moxfield, set to cheapest, Card Kingdom prices).
This is a deck concept that I had brewed a couple years ago on Moxfield. I removed most of the expensive cards (Cryptolith Rite, Rhystic Study, stuff like that) and pared it down to ~$200. I'm looking for any ideas anyone might have to make it better and more consistent without increasing the overall dollar value of the deck. I think its biggest problem right now is mana filtering, specifically consistently having blue mana early enough to play Chulane and three green mana quickly for Tribute to the World Tree (a huge engine for this deck when I get it).
The deck's general strategy is to get the mana to play Chulane, then to just dump creatures on the table (sometimes, because of Chulane's passive, I end up casting like 5-6 creatures in a single turn) with support from cards like Cathar's Crusade, Concordant Crossroads/Coat of Arms (not 100% sure which one of these is better yet), Obelisk of Urd, and the like to swing for lethal. I think Concordant Crossroads (or some other source of Haste) will be more useful than Coat of Arms for the simple fact that sometimes I play a Crusade and dump 15 creatures on the field all at once, and I feel like I won't be able to close out a game if I get board wiped before my turn comes around again.
This deck is super nostalgic for me because I first started playing MTG during the Lorwyn-Shadowmoor block of Standard.
