When upgrading my 40k I cut [[Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph]] and thought it could be a cool commander by itself.

Turna out a lit of people felt the same. So I brewed a budget* list:

    • some cards aren’t budget, but I already have them from old times/pre cons. Some worse cards, like Arc Lightning are also on the list due to nostalgia.

I tried to focus more on the spell-slinging aspect of the deck, hopefully drawing enough cards to bring my opponents to zero faster than they achieve their wincons.

My questions are:

  1. Are 31 lands enough for a curve topping out at cmc 6 and with an average mv of 2.36?

  2. My two most expensive cards to buy for the list are:
[[Basilisk Collar]] - I’m trying to play without it for now
    [[Ophidian Eye]]

They seem to be popular with this commander, but I am not sure how essential are they?

Legendary Creature — Tyranid Human
Ward mana2 (Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays mana2.)
Three Autostubs — Whenever another source you control deals exactly 1 damage to a permanent or player, Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph deals 2 damage to that permanent or player.
