Please don't just respond to this by saying I'm bad or something... I think there's room for a QOL change here.
The I piece is the most frustrating piece to perform spins with (and keep your chain when it's the only option) for me, because it has two pairs of rotation states that look the same but which one you need matters;in many cases you need to be in the left or the right vertical, or the top or bottom horizontal, in order to make the spin work. Trouble is there's no way to be sure which one you're in (other than to remember all your button presses) or even which one you need and once your piece is in position it's usually too late to change it. Even if you've spent time studying the kick tables in detail it's still easy to mess it up.
Even the O piece, for as hard as it is to set up an O spin, you can mash any buttons you like to get the spin because its rotation state doesn't matter ever. This issue also happens with other non T pieces but you can usually just push a different rotate button to get what you want.
IDK what I'm asking for exactly, but perhaps a little mark on one edge of the piece to help you identify the current rotation state or something similar would help people learn this stuff and get the setup correct.
I'm sure some people wiill just say "skill issue" but ... idk. I think there's room for a tweak here. At least in zen mode if nothing else. This is something I never would have thought about before the surge system (and don't get me wrong, I like it, it has had me learn new skills and I'm not complaining about that at all!)
