So there's this one website on which you can play chess, but each player gets a random drawback depending on the player's differences in rating, allowing lower rating players to play with higher ones https://www.drawbackchess.com/. This would be a cool mechanic to add to tetrio, maybe even as a league.
The drawbacks could include changes in garbage multiplier/cap, different bags (i.e the person with the higher raiting gets no i or t pieces every other bag), this list could expand when the character system comes out as well with way more possibilities in gameplay.
