Second best tip is to close your eyes and wish you get it. Worked for me with injustice raidan and MK11 subzero. But not with Kabal or any other MK11 sadly

All u gotta do is hold block when the opponent is attacking and with your third finger,press the special attack and then let go. the attack will trigger without the enemy hitting you.making it a easy counter
