Gimme a sec to look over the board.

#

hmm. Well, can't fully tell on the fets, can I get a clearer and better lit shot of this section? Bit too fuzzy for me to tell fully

Try and get the light so it is almost parallel to the board, but slightly above so it lights the components directly

Hopefully this is better

Definitely a blown FET

bronze parrot
#

yeah, I do believe that center fet looks blown

cerulean plover

What is that?

this right here is a MOSFET, specifically this one is responsible for acting as a power gate to the pixels. the way it's damaged means it's non-functional anymore.

Ah. I see it now

#

I’m guessing that means I need to get a new board?

bronze parrot
#

well, not really, there's 6 of these on the board.

There's a number of solutions that don't involve throwing the board away

just some resoldering and updating configs, or you can remove and replace if you have a reflow station. Though, I will ask if this saber is still under warranty.

Second hand Korbanth for me

ok, well going by how things are wired in, likely channels 2 and 3 are dead, channel 5 looks to be powering the accent pixels. So that leaves you 1, 4, and 6 to choose from, just takes some resoldering then you would need to update the config anc flash it to the board, assuming the config came with the saber as well (should be on the SD card).

This is definitely above my skill level

Well, plenty here including myself offer repair and diagnostic.

Do y’all mind dming me? I’m in Georgia so would prefer someone slightly more local to either meet and drop off or reduce my shipping cost

bronze parrot
#

Well, I'm over in Nevada. Bit too far to take the bus to.

cerulean plover

I’m still willing to give it a go since I see you around often unless you do have a referral on the east coast

I'll be honest I'm not aware of many people that do proffie repair, and I'd imagine those that do (I don't know just because I don't keep track) probably don't live close enough to make a difference (in terms of shipping).

#

That's my two cents

#

¯_(ツ)_/¯

there are at least a couple on the east coast, but not any in or around Georgia (at least the ones I actually know the geolocation of), mostly in the northeast (tierfon) but not sure what his workload right now looks like. Though if you want we can discuss my pricing and such via DM so you have an idea what it would cost for me to repair.
