#THE ACOLYTE
1 messages · Page 5 of 1
I FUCKING HOPE THEY ARE
my man pulled off the bull shit nobody well but oh my god the dark side has never been so attractive in a man
like they gotta be right?
What if he isn't actually a Sith?
Dude same I was like no way he’s gonna call this bad too right.. right?
Well he said it himself he’s not but the Jedi would call him one
I would assume he says his line because the Jedi have no other name for darksiders.
i legitimately hope hes only the apprentice
Never would I have thought Jason from the good place would make me gay
THAT’S WHO IT IS? I wasn’t paying attention to the cast so I thought it was Ben from Umbrella academy at first but then figured it was someone else
night and fucking day oh my god
there is no way these are the same people
My wife and I yelled BORTLES when that mask came off
HAHAHA same dude
Duvaaallll
My girl had no idea what I was talking about when I did that😭
He needs all the praise for this role for real
What a standout
We really wanted it to be him, and we're not let down
For this role? For his ARMS bro.
Honestly I need that Sith lord to take his shirt off, move over Yord.
Qimir really broke Yord's neck and was like "hey bitch, I'm the hottie now".
LITERALLY THO
qimir snapped yords neck and i legitimately felt like gagging for a good 2 minutes after
So earlier in the press tour for acolyte
Jecki's actress was like "He's really good at his stunts"
and Qimir's actor was like "What stunts I don't get to do anything fun <.<"
"I don't get to do anything fun,"
casually snaps Yord's neck
snap my neck
casually flexes his massive arms
"QIMIR COULD BREAK MY NECK TOO AND I'D THANK HIM"
"QIMIR STEP ON ME"
There are gonna be so many goddamn thirst tweets about Qimir in the weeks to come.
Frankly I'm here for it.
Jecki's actress was also like "He does cool tricks with his lightsaber"
So it's been pretty known who he is lmao
I'M SAYING
Good, so much of the show has actually been spoiled lmao
concept of this episode was great tho, i loved that old fan film of maul hunting jedi in a forest
damn bro qimir is fucking YOLKED
HAHAHAHA
straight up cock diesel
I ACCIDENTALLY TRIED TO PIN THIS
THEN I REALIZED I DON'T HAVE PIN PERMS IN THIS SERVER
DO IT!
SCREECHING
AVSATI! WE NEED YOU!
AVSATI PLEASE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO DO THE FUNNIEST SHIT RN
29 minutes long
okay lets be real, the hardest death in this episode was pips death
i knew she was cooked the second she had a scene w qimir
if they decided to let jecki survive an encounter with a sith lord i woulda waltered so hard
Jecki's death was brutal but honestly Yord dying without a lightsaber even being involved was SICKKK.
Dunno, when he stabbed through that chick then force pulled the dude on the same saber
I really didn’t want Jecki to die yet bc she killed it so hard
HONESTLY SO FUCKING SICK
people were getting ragdolled this episode
you dont see neck snaps often in star wars so when you do its fucking jarring in the most perfect way
it wasnt a very well done neck snap but it still gets points
WHAT IS HIS WORKOUT ROUTINE
It was brutal
it legit made me sick XD
I watched the trailers, which is annoying that a lot is in them, but I don't particularly care for cast interviews
we need a verdict from @wild cove
THANKS SEVEN
YES!
this episode gets bonus points for hand to hand combat and HEADBUTTING A LIGHTSABER
SORRY
Seven rn
i love that yord used the cortosis helmet as a weapon against qimir
hes smart asf for doin that too man
I'm so used to pinning funny shit in my own server that I forgot I'm not a mod in this one LMAO
Unfortunately for him, [sound effect of bone breaking]
id beat the shit outta somebody if their helmet just blocked one of the deadliest weapons in the universe
I need his helmet just to hit people with
ok legit noticing this now watching it again. i LOVE the sparks the saber makes deactivating after hitting the cortosis
ngl bruh if they try to bring cortosis into the empire era im gonna lose it
I am rewatching it as well
Meanwhile I'm writing music lol
Legitimately thought they'd be safe for the season
i wont complain about main characters getting iced
Everyone else: Talking about the Acolyte and rewatching the latest episode
Meanwhile me: Thirsting over a Darksider genuinely for the first time and struggling with lyric timing in the background
after sabine survived being impaled we need sabers to feel like they are sabers again
this mans work out routine rivals that of wolverine!
Real.
But also, you leave my daughter out of this.
QIMIR'S ARMS BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i legit cant get over this fucker
that looks straight up disproportionate
The routine is steroids and it's not particularly a secret
We gotta get Nightwing to weigh in on this.
dont care. my man looks amazing
i doubt hes in the spoiler channel
Are you making a fancam
Who doesn't
better than fridge shaped ben solo
Have you seen Vader
Qimir being the sith lord is the lamest poorest written part of the show so far
its not a criticism trust me
What's Qimir's fan club called?
He's in the user list...?
What, how
Qiminions.
DAMN I DID NOT REALIZE I WAS THIS DOWN BAD
i subscribe to this!
I need to be put down.
It's gotta be two words
by Qimir?
YUHHHHHH
Like Jecki Jam, Sol Patrol, Yord Horde
Just like it was poorly done and overly blatant on who it was gonna be
move over yord hord, the fucking qiminions are here
Nah if we're making fancams of him we gotta go full K-Pop fandom mode.
But those are all lightsiders.
So because you managed to see the hints given by the show, it's bad.
Do NOT call it the Qimir Quiver
realistically who else could it have been tho? i thought it would be lame but the alternative is so much worse. If its just some random fucker, then that means we are guaranteed another flashback episode that no one cares about just to establish a character that could have existed from the beginning of the show
THIS!
If it was some random, people would've been screaming plot holes.
qiminions is too good to pass up
if marvel can have cumberbitches, we get qiminions
If it was Koril or Aniseya...
The Internet would have a field day
They weren't hints they were bold font here's the answer
"DIDN'T WE SEE THEM DIE IN A FIRE??!!?!?!111!/1!?!!?1/!?!?!?!?!1/!"
Do you know what dramatic irony is and its use in storytelling?
Koril we didn't see a body
ive never read a single thing in my life
I was worried that was where the episode was going
Yeah ik I'm just saying that's what people would've been screaming if that'd been the case.
How are the HR books going
Yo I gotta make Qimir's helmet though.
Also, I feel like the Qimir line in the trailer made it more obvious
just finished cataclysm. idk if there are any other novels left
No EVA foam, I guess we're going the route of Cardboard.
A member of the Qimir quadrant
i think i need a qimir helmet ngl
I'm sure Darth Papyrus has tips on working with papery materials.
Twitter has settled on QimirPeers
Qiminions
TAKE IT A STEP FURTHER.
WHERE TF ARE MY QIMIRQUEERS??
thaats fucking wild
😭😭😭
Bro
Very
I really hope someone starts making blade effects for Proffie/CFX to imitate those cortosis hits, shut downs and blade restarts. Such a cool effect
Closed my lyric-writing shenanigans to play Genshin but I'm still here thirsting.
Acolyte haters be like "why didn't Bazil tell the council about the sith"
"the liberal media is lying about the sith threat!!"
The woke mob covered them up
I kinda love Qimir's edgy sith voice modulator
Or sol!!!
It'll be okay, bud.
I accidently spoiled myself early on because I liked the sound design of it in the trailer, so I was messing around with it and pitched it up and it sounded just like manny😭
Oof
Omg
Acolyte haters be like: How did Jecki arrest Mae when Mae was strong enough to kill Indara
Acolyte haters be like: "Why did Qimir try to kill Mae??" when bro literally says exactly why.
Okay but like that's kinda legit...
To be fair they still did make it pretty obvious it was him on the 2nd and 4th ep
Man, yall type too fast for me to read everything. Best episode yet, this shit was dope. And brutal.
Neat detail, you can see straps on the armor
Maybe Indara was old and actually kinda shit at her job. 🤷♂️
How did Jecki go toe to toe with a Sith Lord who killed 5 Jedi single handedly
Absolutely the best episode so far
Same way Obi-wan went toe to toe with a sith lord who killed many jedi single handedly
some people just built different
And then I say: suspend disbelief and consider the tension of a scene, hypothetical person
I love Qimir's hello before he grabs Mae
Canon wise part of it could be showing Mae the lesson
Can we make that a new meme?
But jecki reallyyyy fucked em up so idk
I love Jecki's make up
He got real mad when she got his mask off
jeckis make up was legitimately beautiful
Real good character design
Quimir really shanked her so fast
I think Darth Teeth might be the first darksider I actually want to cosplay. Also, hell yes bringing cortosis weave armor back into canon.
she was getting her ass beat the entire time XD
This isn't the first time Cortosis weave is in canon, is it?
in live action yes
Could’ve sworn I’ve seen similar in Jedi fallen order
ah fair
its been in the comics in canon before
I think in live action it is. I don't recall it in animation either
someone dueled vader with a cortosis blade in the comics. fucked with his head completely when his saber turned off. he still killed her though, i think with the blade itself
I think Aphra(?) had some too
Fair enough. I unfortunately don't have all of Star Wars stored away in my brain.
Frankly not good enough tbh 😛
And I haven't read any of the canon books/comics.
Hey man, sometimes I need to remember stuff. Like.... uh.... damn it....
this was a fair step up from the rest of the show so far, super impressed with the choreography
its been in acolyte, a new dawn, a rebels magazine, the new thrawn books, war of the bounty hunters, doctor aphra, hidden empire, and uprising
Was that with a woman who gave a monolog about how his saber won't work for minutes?
i believe so
That's EU
ah never mind then
Yes
well theres something they cant bitch about then at least XD
Also another neat detail: Yord's saber shroud is more like bunny ears
Based off this 2nd pic, I thought it was a shroud, but it's not
yords got a bunny fursona XD
Isn't that Sol's saber?
I just loved Yord's line "He doesn't even follow the rules of combat!"
like you knew he was cooked after that
No, this one's sol's
lmao, starlight beacon flashbacks
honestly
Ah, gotcha. There's similar design elements.
i dont remember him using trakata in that at all. anyone else?
I agree, I'm glad that in motion there is some distinction, but the prop photos from a month ago didn't help the thought
He didn't, he just had a very wild fighting style that probably wouldn't have registered with their forms of lightsaber combat
i hope disney pushes some high republic hilts at batuu
Also he straight up used the Saint-14 method of headbutting the blades
I hope Hasbro shows off the Qimir figure soon
I have a theory that thats why they're ok with the thiccboi sabers in this show. They're basically first run new Gamaxy's Edge sabers.
i get the feeling thats why as well
so as a hater of blue and green saber over use. am i the only one who thinks a blue saber has never looked better than on sol?
I can't wait for the star wars fans to put it in a jar
The shroud portions of both sabers have inverted design elements. Sol's cuts back, revealing more of the core structure. Yord's extends in, hiding more of what appears to be a similar core structure. I really like the visual language of these sabers.
No, I'm not. I've thought about joining Rebel Legion, but life has always seemed to have gotten in the way. I'm still interested, though.
Valid
I'm currently still working on 501st approval and I also have a Sith for Dark Empire I'm working on
ive gotten the 501st to attend two small town conventions before with a third in august XD
And now.... Probably Qimir
I love being a part of it, it's a good community
For sure Qimir. I've gotta set up my 3d printers, and start working out again, haha.
I might just keep the big cloak on so I can hide my smol arms
Or, get just the arms of one of those muscle suits. Keep them hidden beneath the cloak until the opportune moment, then surprise! Darth Teeth becomes Darth Beef!
Real
I think I'm going to look into the Rebel Legion again. I realized that the last time I thought about joining, I had about a thousand other things going on.
Do itttt
Also I think another thing that'll get brought up negativity is when Qimir Force Heals Osha
I actually like that. It ties into the themes of this show where if the Jedi aren't all good and perfect, maybe the Sith aren't all evil.
I don't think it'll go anywhere significant, but it's an intriguing line of thought.
Maybe
"I've accepted my darkness... what have you done with yours?"
I could see it getting brought up with relation to Qui-Gon
This episode broke the cannon from the prequels. And not a word said about it.
explain how so
Is canon actually broken? We haven’t seen the ending
lets have the conversation. explain your point of view
The dude pretty much admitted to being a sith.
They never ceased to exist though. They just hadn’t been seen so the Jedi thought they were gone
This event is big enough to be remembered. Multiple Jedi were killed by one guy
Considering the show hasn't finished yet, what makes you think there will be witnesses
Jedi cover shit up a lot, too.
Then they just forget a whole squad of Jedi just disappeared?
5 jedi were killed on tython when bane and zannah were discovered there. their deaths werent even looked into until a team of jedi found their lightsabers later on ambria
Absolutely not, but the only jedi who knows that it was a sith, were there.
Also, the quote was "you might call me a Sith", i.e. implying that the Jedi would refer to him as such, despite him not being a true Sith.
Also, just because Jedi die doesn't mean it's a Sith outright, at least in the eyes of the council.
See: Ki-Adi Mundi.
Not to mention, it's the High Republic, where non-Force-sensitives have killed Jedi before.
There’s so many ways this can play out but to assume there is a broken canon just seems a little presumptive
Ki-Adi Mundi is the most canon breaking thing in the series so far
and only because we've gotten an age on him from before
and funnily enough, doesn't break canon
the same source listed Luke & Leia as different ages though
so like
also. assuming that all the witnesses are killed. theres no reason why the jedi would assume sith. like its beens aying for how long now they believe the sith are extinct.
From discarded legends.
The surviving jedi have no reason to believe it's a sith.
You mean from those wildly inaccurate topp trumps cards
same source saying keldor live for 80 years despite plo koon being well over 300
Same source saying xyz lives for zyx age despite the force extending peoples lifespans?
He would also have to die.
There's lightsaber wounds, and they could say he has a conflict of interest
He's definitely dying
but it could work
id much more prefer his death
sol is definitely on the chopping block before this series is done
Mae is absolutely mercing Sol on the ship
Mae 100% killing Sol
But Sol could still be the fall guy
i think shes going to play the role of osha for a bit, then bazil is going to give her back the piece of pip, she wont recognize it. thats when sol will be tipped off. thats when osha will try to kill him
yeah everyone who knows about the sith are dying, or allied with the sith. It's not going to break canon
weather she does or not is a different story
Osha going to kill qimir and then no ones knows about him besides the twins
I'm just curious on how Qimir knows all the people he's sending Mae to merc unless there's some crazy shit like Qimir is mother Koril but due to weird witch stuff is now Qimir
I think it's gonna be revealed that the witch coven learned of the force birth from the Sith
Or is qimir the father
I wanna know what history Qimir has with Sol.
or the other way around, but yeah
Qimir is like "you don't recognize me" and Sol is like "hmm vaguely familiar" but ???
Which is another reason why I think Qimir or the Sith are in on the plot with the witch coven
That stick is better than bacon.
Join us
well we got 3 more episodes... I'm assuming this show ends up being a single season long with them just mercing main cast members
It’ll be like rogue one, everyone dies!
Haha, I'm looking at the jedi costume standards right now. I don't know if I'd qualify, but I think I've got a good base.
wouldn't shock me
RL approval can be pretty tough
I wanna make my own scout trooper armor... but like also don't want to put in that much work
Yeah, the standards seem very tough. But I might be able to simply tweak what I already have to work.
WHERE IS MY EPISODE 5???
They're not the most tough of the costuming groups, mercs are insane
Send me what you got so far
Not gonna read anymore of the chat but I'm dying for the website to update
It just released 3 hours 40 minutes ago
oh. Thought it released at midnight
No ep 5, 🏴☠️
LOLOL
Sure, let me see if I have any photos that are framed halfway decently.
Spoilers are free
This is the danger zone now
Get outta here you little scamp lol
yeah defs the best episode by far
i love it when people yell that the episode was shit and refuse to have a conversation about it
Enters in, says Acolyte is shit, refuses to elaborate
Sent you a DM.
Other than the fights the episode was nothing spectacular. I roll my eyes at the fact that Mae literally caused all of this but can't comprehend it.
I find it silly.
Even more silly. No character has been this out of touch.
And that sith guy. His motive is power. How original
we legit don't know his motive though...
What's the Sith Code again?
That is the Sith's MO though
Takes a day min. For them to upload
He said he wanted to show off his power.
It's seemed more to me that his motive was to be able to do what he wanted, and teach what he learned.
he seems to have some connection with the jedi that Mae was sent to kill.
He also wanted an apprentice
It is but not enough to structure a whole ass show around it.
He said he wanted to show off his power without it being a crime
He wanted his chains to be broken
have you read literally any sith story.
I thought the show was structured around two twins.
But that's the motive of Palpatine in the PT though
SW canon has always had the same consistency as a mirror with a hammer thrown through it
He does so much manipulation which lends to a lot of story happening.
I suppose but it's still a motivation of power for power's sake
This guy shows up and says he wants a to display power. Boring.
Qimir is also manipulating Mae for some end, we can't say for certain till the show is over
OH SHIT HE KILLED THEM ALL
That's, not what he said
GET OUTTA HERE YOU'RE NOT DONE YET
THIS IS A LIVE REACTION HAHAHA
Not Ithia Paan
not that this is related to the convo at hand... but the PT novelizations were actually really good.
ok so this is something thats been bothering me. generation tech has been calling vernestra rwoh the grand master. is there actually any media confirming this or is allen just being a ditz like normal
If you listen to the dialogue, he says he wants freedom to wield his power the way he likes, without having to answer to the Jedi.
That's not 'displaying power'
Nowhere has stated she's grand master.
or a grandmaster for that fact
so allen just being allen. thanks
It hints at it. He is aggressive which aggressive people want to dominate.
Force anarchy more like
HOL UP DOES JECKI HAVE A CORRAN HORN?
Not in the chaos sense but the “no gods no masters” kind I bet
My point is really isn't how he wants to use it. It's that no story happened before we got here. He pretended to be a guy who sources items. Then all of a sudden comes out and has a speech about power. No story what so ever with him.
No
It's almost like the story isn't over yet...
He's a guy who pretends to source items, hiding his true identity
because he has to hide his true identity
& the show isn't about him lmao
I hope there is more. But 5 episodes in. More then half way and not much happens. Underwhelming to me.
we still have a flash back kelnacca duel to look forward too, and vernestras duel with something ive got hopes
yeah vern still has to show up and use her whip
and likely the heracy of the jedi with sol or his team burning down the brendok cult
What's really funny about Vern though
is her species has a lifespan of 70ish
She's like 116
and yet Mundi is the problem 🙂
This show should have used Yoda instead of Mundi.
except yoda is on the council
is a grand master
and defeats the entire purpose of that scene
I don't mean directly in this scene.
Not to mention, every time a new Star Wars shows has legacy characters, everyone bitches about how "they don't do anything original"
that's the only scene Mundi is in
Where else would he be replaced lmao
potentially not the grand master yet. havent seen him get the role as of yet.
Yoda was a grand master many years ago, I think?
They used Mundi because Yoda was rejected. Thus that scene was created. I mean not replace him there but a different scene involving Yoda.
at least that i know of. havent finished the high republic books 100ish years before hand he was only on the high council, with ry ki-sakka as the grand master
could be possible that hes been ellivated at the end of phase 3 idk yet
There were many grand masters in the HR. There's a difference between Grand Master, and head of the order
Xo Lahru, Pre-Tre, and Yoda were grand masters
What a nightmare of a hierarchy
Yoda was grand master in TPM and mace was head of the order 🤷♂️
Sol and others could have simply approached the council about this guy, do we even have any sort of name?, and they reject his existence and Sol goes Rogue.
I can only imagine the confusion that comes up with paperwork (holo-work?) and Jedi bureaucracy
from what ive been reading in the high republic yes they were all grand master but none of them were grand master at the same time. technically pra-tre veter and ry ki-sakka were at the same time but that was only because pre-tre was lost inside nihil space and killed
Thus Yoda appearance instead of Mundi.
All three were at the same time
ight. just seen that on the wiki page. the books made it seem different
"During the High Republic, the 12 seats on the Council consist of three Grand Masters, including Yoda, Lahru, and Pra-tre Veter."
^
yeah just providing a source lol
if they council found out they would have to share it with the senate. if the senate knew a potentially rogue jedi was out there murdering people the faith in the jedi would be shaken and potentially cause panic.
Jedi covering shit up and not wanting to get the Senate involved go brrr
Unfortunately for them Palpatine had other plans.
Idk how it all worked out but maybe Yoda was rejected cause for the team, having him be the one to sorta wave off this situation would be against some kinda characterization bible for someone like Yoda?
and when your only source is "we dont know their name, we dont know their motive, we dont know where they are, or who they are, we only know an accomplice but dont even have her in custody yet" its not worth the risk of saying anything
now IF sol survived his way back to the temple he would absolutely have every justification to tell the council about it, but i get a strong feeling thats not going to happen
I just wanna know his Darth name
I wonder if either of them will survive.
We don't even know if he's a true Banite Sith.
Everyone is dying IMO
He says the Jedi would refer to him as a Sith, not that he is one.
Trueee...
Because what the fuck else would the Jedi of that era call him.
Sol is strong enough to handle Mae. How can he not survive? They were in the ship by the time the episode ends.
Hell people back in the day called Ventress a Sith when she wasn't even close.
Just because you call someone one thing doesn't mean they are.
People call all red bladed characters sith.
weird, because they're not
Hell tie fighter pilots are apparently another look for Vader.
That's exactly the point.
even a jedi is not immune to a well placed knife in the back
And Stormtroopers are apparently Jedi as well. Seen it in person.
Who’s to say Mae is the problem for Sol? Maybe he’ll become isolated from his allies somehow due to lies and deception
It’s not really the best look for him to be alive while everyone else he was with is now dead, especially if he’s the one in charge of the group
Bro watched his Padawan get stabbed three separate times,,,
lets also not forget, mae could very well have a lightsaber now
Nothing like looting a dead body lmao
with how often she was going for sabers before i dont see her throwing yords away now that shes got it
He just watched his friends all die
He's emotionally unbalanced
not only that
his past has been brought to the surface
dudes definitely about to confess his sins of the past
He almost killed no name after all of that soo.
exactly the point
Lightsabers aren’t exactly common weapons, and with the unwillingness of the council to investigate Sith…
What do you do when you see your friend's neck get snapped and your second space daughter got stabbed right in front of you, then have to fly back home?
you fucking break down XD
And Mae is there ready to strangle him
Become a convenient scapegoat? Or die, either is a good option
Have you seen his arms.
Who needs a lightsaber at that point
I mean Qimir clearly doesn't. The way he snapped Yord's neck?
my mans just having fun at that point
i keep hearing vegeta in my head, couldnt resist
Now that's a pretty cool comparison
The fandom menace: this show is obsessed with pronounces
The sith: uses the sickest pronoun-related burn you can make about a child you just murdered
We gotta hire more woke writers, this shit rules so hard.
"You want me to use pronouns? How about 'it's/dead'?"
Thank you Leslye for making Dafne Keen play an alien. This means we can get her back in Star Wars as a human character at some point. It would be a crime for her to go the rest of her life without doing more lightsaber fighting
girl is an amazing martial artist
Like the Boys hiring actors who might as well be the exact opposite of their characters. Stormfront being played by a Jewish actress and Firecracker being a lesbian irl
heard antony starrs actual accent today, i cant recognize him as homelander
He truly feels like 2 different people, his acting skills are incredible
He kiwi af
Ok done w episode
Overall pretty solid, liked it more than the last 2, probably because it was mostly action
Qimir goes hard, I remember reading about the material that makes sabers fizzle out, glad they made use of it
Feel like Osha should've just let Sol kill him right then and there tho
the cortosis is brilliant. including that on any sith cosplay i do
Idk wtf Mae's plan is but ok
Yes that
I was wondering why tf they don't use that more often
seven no XD
It's rare and can break from punches
Maybe alloys?
Might be as strong as aluminum soda cans
the neck snap legit made me want to gag for a good couple minutes
It made me wet
i LOVE how their blades practically explode on contact with it
Qimir Peers all Qimir Quiver
fuck off. its qiminions
twitter cant even decide its own name. they dont get to decide this one
Qimir Qrew
The Elongated Muskrat does not speak for us
REAL
If you scroll up you'll see that I've been thirsting over Qimir for several hours now.
Oh dude is good looking but I meant his technique
Also gonna geek out over his saber just one more time
Like yeah it's not practical but as a surprise weapon it fucking rocks
I love how they always give the Sith unique sabers
Also I'm guessing it's confirmed that he's Sith?
Eh, I didn't see it as such.
He said something along the lines of "you Jedi would call me a Sith", implying that he's not and that the Jedi just don't have a name for people like him.
or he's being enigmatic and he is the sith
It’s the woke agenda clearly/s
SWOKE AGENDA
if hes legitimately a sith i say hes only the apprentice.
Fair assessment
imagine how badass the master is if this is just the apprentice
He spoke like a wannabe parent too 💀
"I want a pupil... an acolyte"
He also told Sol "You don't recognize me?" I wonder if he meant as in the Sithy sense or he actually knows him
I really really don’t want to sound racist as fuck but relations?
What kinda cool saber would he have? Shuriken saber? 😂
That was my first thought too and I'm Korean
I believe this has been said somewhere... someone said an acolyte is the apprentices apprentice.
here i am hoping for a duel phase saber
The funny thing is I am too…
not in the show, but one of the staff
lmao then we aint got no problems
Yeah I was under the impression that Acolytes were the absolute bottom tier apprentice
Probably way off, but maybe he's looking for an Acolyte so he can succeed his own master in the near future
i will fucking defend this for ever. lightsabers blades have NEVER looked so good
Like he can secure the legacy of the rULe of TwO
I doubt Sol would be a dad of any sort, so that’s out of the question. Long lost brother due to Jedi stuff? Maybe. Other idea could be Sol saw young qimir during the fire and didn’t rescue him for reasons unknown?
i seen someone saying the episode was garbage because "where was sol in the duel, why was yord running with his saber out, how coupld jecki handle a sith that just decimated 3 masters, and where did mae get long hair"
like idk where sol was, yord was running with his saber because fun fact, they are also glow sticks and you can use the light while running in a jungle at night, jecki wasnt handling the sith she was getting her ass beat the entire time and mae has had long hair since the start of the series.
Who tf knows? Maybe Sol trained Qimir before he trained Osha. More will be revealed in the coming episodes.
That def seems like it could be an option, just theory crafting a bit
I don't care as long as we get more of his arms tbh.
Wookiepedia currently describes him as being of the Sith Order?
So oof.
yeah he's most likely the sith unless he was being deceptive
Remember, wookieepedia only knows what we the audience know about this show. They update as the show goes on.
"might as well call me a sith" theres definitely more to this statement but for the time being its just easier to say he was
Idk the way he worded it makes me feel like he's more Sith-adjacent than anything else.
Qimir be like:
What can I say? I’ve been on a smosh binge recently while waiting for more Dropout content
Fair.
Broccoli and nofap
Ooh, that reminds me, I've got to sign up for Dropout.
dont have too many wet dreams over qimirs arms
"i dont know star wars so im going to blame disney and call them bad"
that's basically the gist of a lot of the complaints
did inform them it was cortosis and that it was a legends thing before hand so disney is not to blame for this.
i love that this is the thing people are complaining about but then we can sit here like "no this is a legends thing. who doesnt know star wars again?"
it's also a canon thing, for awhile lol
i mean it started off as a legends thing. they cant blame disney for this idea
TBF to them unless you're a super nerd you probably don't know about cortosis but also TBF you really couldn't have the same suspension of disbelief as you do for lightsabers in the first place that there's a material that'd counter them
Sure they can. "Oh, Disney brought in the wrong legends stuff. They don't know what they're doing..."
The only "good" Star Wars for a lot of these people is the version that only exists in their head.
Fans run the wiki
So who knows
fake fans amirite
Nah
Theres definitely more going on but for the time being it’s better to go with all that we know
Ur mum's a fake fan
If he says might as well call him a sith then we might as well call him a sith
With those arms, I'll call him whatever he wants.
XD god damn it
🤣
I swear the lot of you want to be mae in this scene
Hey man, I'm straight (mostly). He's just in really good shape, and he's confident.
I will fully admit I’m bi though I’m far more picky about men than women and married to an amazing gremlin of a woman but fucking damn this man does it for me
cool choreography
the show's definitely got that over the other disney star wars shows
He goes from the nervous no body side kick to an amazing fucking beast of a man
thought it was weird Sol just stood there when Yord went to attack Qimir
Kenobi did have choreo, it's just that they didn't have a steadycam
kenobi's choreo didn't look as fast and fluid as the acolyte's does
granted the camerawork really isn't helping kenobi
I did some timing. The redshirts had their sabers shorted out for 15 seconds Jecki had hers out for only 8 seconds
can't time the shorting for Sol, Qimir, or Yord's sabers because there's a bunch of dialogue
best to say it's up to the story to dictate how long it lasts
but currently the longest is 15 seconds
I thought yord using the helmet against qimir was clever
the helmet in general was just a cool thing
I'm not sure about jecki just smacking it off qimir's head though
I know we’re kidding but I’d say def not steroids. I just looked up the actor and I’d call that a good natural physique. The camera also tends towards making people look much bigger than they are irl
the point of the helmet is kinda to stay on when you take a blow to the head
Whoops sorry, replying to @weary sable
Cortosis is notoriously fragile so maybe it just broke
he put the helmet back on though
maybe not
I might have misremembered
I'm pretty sure the helmet was intact though
nah it does break
hang on I'll get some screenshots
So here is the helmet intact,
fuck that looks terrible quality lmao
Jecki just about to smash
and there it is in two pieces
yeah I just rewatched a clip online
soundfont makers gonna go crazy with all the lightsaber sounds to draw from
💀💀💀
wouldn't qimir be the hole punch?
That was a pretty good episode
But damn the Jedi got slaughtered
Jecki and Yords deaths had me like
choreography looked great but I remember at least two instances where the jedi just stood around doing nothing while their colleagues were getting their asses kicked
once when yord was fighting qimir and the two other jedi had their lightsabers deactivated
again when yord jumped qimir and sol just stood there
If you watch obi wan real close during duel of the fates most of the time he’s just twirling around by himself off to the side
yeah that's not great either
The choreography from EP5 was actually really damn good, a lot better than I was expecting it to be
I haven’t watched the last three eps yet, need to catch up but I’m happy to hear they have de-sanitised the lightsaber
Was getting silly watching people get stabbed and walk it off
watching indara die from that knife stab in ep 1 just highlights to me how dumb it was watching characters walk off lightsaber injuries
So you aren't talking about Qimir anymore
so nobody else was surprised qimir was the sith, right?
No
I assume not
can always learnmore about him later.
he's probably related to the witches
yeah I wonder, cause he seemed to know sol?
but the witches are all ladies.
dude was probably present as a kid when the coven was destroyed as seen in ep 3
I heard rumours it was qimir but I assumed it was another “marrok is star killer” type theories
seems the narrative is trying to set up sol did something bad that we didn't see in ep 3, qimir is probably involved somehow
yeah
I assume it's the same reason why Torbin took the barash
and why Kelnacca exiled himself.
wish qimir would've had more characterisation before though
qimir didn't really come across as anything other than some guy
That's kinda the point
yeah but we barely have any connection to the guy and neither do the other characters
from my understanding, Qimir, is meant to be a nobody.
that doesn't mean you can't give him character or interesting interactions to work with
but Qimir is just a nobody side character
that you're not meant to have interesting interactions with
His Sith persona is the actual character.
I get what you're saying, but I don't think Qimir, the weak tagalong, is meant to be anything or anybody to anyone.
shouldn't the reveal that the nobody character is actually a sith lord carry some weight to it though?
Finally got to watch it.
Yeah I knew who was gonna die xD
The moment that the whole "Yes they like each other" thing was revealed it was all over
RIP Yord Nation tho
qimir's reveal doesn't carry any weight since we already knew it was totally him
he's just there
and all of a sudden, oh, he's a sith now
I mean no? We all know that Anakin will be Vader. Doesn't make the moment any less impactful when he goes rogue
We know Qui-Gon isn't gonna make it cause he's not in the OT
His death still sucks
with anakin it's about the journey and not the destination
the prequels show us how and why he became vader
I Do not own this. It is taken from justice league animated series by DC and WB purely for entertainment and not for any commercial purpose.
Have you seen the film rashomon
But his turn was also a sudden thing being a complaint. People have argued that Episode 2 should have been Episode 1 and a Episode 2 be all about the Clone Wars lol
nope
it's a film with like 7 different perspectives of the same thing and most of it doesn't make sense until you've seen all the different perspectives
It was listed as a big inspiration for this series
Not everything is going to be explained or revealed when it happens
Daren Nop is the fight arranger. He did the choreography for the Kingsman movies
I’m not saying they need to give us qimir’s life story immediately
just like
give him some kind of character to bounce off the others
have some kind of character dynamic that the sith reveal can upend
yeah which is fair
but I think the point of his character is that Qimir isn't meant to be anything at all
he goes on his spiel about wanting to be free to be himself, and says he has no name
I do think that it was a mistake calling him Sith
Not cause I think its bad writing, but cause the usual people will overreact lol
apparently it's already broken canon. :^)
Well now its broken it THRICE
ruined forever
I do like his lightsaber more now though
Especially cause it splits apparently
maybe, but the reveal falls flat in the end anyway since it doesn't change any character dynamics and the audience wasn't surprised to begin with
We literally had like 80 percent of the cast die. It changed a LOT of character dynamics xD
I wonder how it feels as an actor seeing everyone gush over your character unexpectedly.
Knowing that they aren't gonna make it xD
"Yord Nation forever!"
Also that was brutal wth
A neck snap
like whaaa
dude could've passed himself off as a darksider rather than outright confirm he's a sith
well he didnt actually say he was sith
he just said thats what the jedi would call him
...so basically he's a sith?
yeah like how else are you supposed to interpret that
I like this one
I mean he accepts and associates with the name
I'm pretty sure the showrunner has confirmed there is a sith in the show so like
so I guess yeah
yeah
yeah i was wondering about that, does he not have a darth name?
He's probably Sith in name only
darth sino
Dude did a good job acting out as a big bad
probably does but he doesn't have a reason to reveal it
Manny. that's his name. Great job acting as the bad guy
darth manny
I also thought that, but then again why does he need to reveal that he's a sith at all?
yeah he doesn't
that's bad writing if you ask me
eh the sith are always arrogant that's not exactly out of character for any of them
yeah but not arrogant enough to run the risk of exposing themselves to the jedi like that
sith shouldn't take any chances
Again though, he was going to kill everyone. Including Sol. Sith are arrogant as hell. They drop the ball every time lol
again he just finished killing 8/10 people there why would he have any reason to assume that Sol would be any different
Besides the Jedi just don't get it. Oh look a Sith. Eh probably just kidding
This is the same mf who lit his lightsaber standing on the beach for no reason
He’s just edgy
Sol doesn't even seem super phased when he tells him, but weirdly does wonder why the sith "would risk discovery"
Sol is probably dealing with the death of his apprentice and the death of a friend so a little dazed
But whatever this secret is, its apparently so bad that the reveal of Qimir is making it a necesity for every Jedi to die
This secret that has something to do with Mae and OSha
I thought it was hilarious he states you can't kill a jedi with a weapon but mae kills indara with a small knife
clearly he wasn't being literal but it sounds really funny
Mae got called out for doing that which I thought was hilarious lol
I think he's talking more philosophically there, you can't kill jedi ideals with a weapon.
hence I said he clearly wasn't being literal
yeah the second part did not load at all for me my bad lol
"she was a child" "you brought her here" BRUTAL
Didn't the showrunner say there was going to be multiple sith in the show?
I still think that Qimir is the apprentice, looking for an acolyte
Even though he said he was the master
Could be wrong
I mean he would still technically be Mae's master
I feel like people will be pissed if they shoehorn a human I to becoming Darth plagiueus
Or Tenebrous
I have a feeling it's gonna happen, it'd be hard to make general audiences identify with either of their legends species IMO
It's one of my moan gripes with Disney Star Wars, they just make every character human
I mean as you can see, we got more aliens and suddenly it's "woke" lol
But I don't think they're gonna touch Plagueis
I think he might stay as an enigma in the current canon
Muun Plagueis I could maaaaaaaaybe see because that's a face that could emote decently (but CG would be pricy if he's a consistent reoccuring character) but Bith Sith Tenebrous I don't think is gonna happen. too weird for normies
Bith or riot
I'm gonna be that guy and say that I just can't deal with Legends Bane's helmet
I prefer the new Canon helmet
That's not a helmet
Growing on him iirc
Sith should really include free health care in their apprenticeship
It’s a dark side parasite covering his skin
He eventually has to get rid of it because it’s interfering with him creating a sith holocron but it nearly kills him
Yeah definitely should get that looked at and removed
If you look at his chest it’s made up of wood louse looking things
Yeahhhh I did think it looked a little organic
you should read the books!
they are excellent and well worth the read
I don't think I've seen anyone complain about too many aliens
I've heard people saying with the budget that went into the show there'd better be aliens
orbalisk
I don't really give a shit about normies and it seems Disney doesn't either with what they are doing with the show
my assumptions are they don't do many aliens in action because of costs
idc if its cgi, I want Bith Sith and Muun sith
90% of all characters in action in Live-Star Wars shows are human
they even butchered the pykes
lets give them a humanoid build and call them pykes
At least in the Old Republic / Legends, an Acolyte is to the Sith as Younglings are to Jedi.
this isn't even a live action problem this has been prevalent in the franchise since day 1 lol
I feel like now Disney would literally be Kaminoans? Yea lets give them a human build with a long neck
not really
the prequels aliens were amazing
only OT had humanoid aliens
Kaminoans, Geonosians, Nautolans etc
were any of them lead characters that carried a scene on their own?
does it matter?
technology has advanced much
Which was the trick on him by Zannah, as the orbalisk armor basically made him invulnerable
for the purposes of what we're talking about yes, if we have Plagueis or Tenebrous I don't want them to be a shitty two second cameo where they have no depth to speak of
I don't either
It is though right? He had to wear a special helmet so the beetles didn’t cover his face right?
but I'd rather they invest into good CGI and make the characters look good
instead of lets do human and put a long head on it ezpz
It’ll be the final scene in the show and it’ll say “it’s acolytin time”
good cgi is expensive and time consuming and everyone's already complaining that these shows take too long and are too expensive.
they are just too lazy
thanos has a near human face with relatable facial expressions
yea, no shit cause shows are written poorly and expense goes to shit things
His black order
like the money is going to the wrong things
are 1 dimensional characters with at most 2 mins of screen time
ok and?
they still have combat scenes?
you need to hold em to a higher standard
the studio i mean
They are just lazy when it comes to aliens
I’d rather just have shit animated ngl
also they cgi'd a ton of droids in the prequels all of em who had a ton of screentime
I'm not talking about combat lol I'm talking about having character driven dialogue scenes where I actually feel something about the character I see on screen.
we haven't had that for years lol
You’re asking too much from Disney
I do, but I'm just realistic about it lol
The world realistic doesn't go well in imagneering lol
corny I know
but isn't their job to make stuff not feel realistic
their production value feels lower than what George did with the prequels
The problem is that a good story will have characters that have depth and goals and different views and then the story sorta builds up around them
But Disney writes shows with the logic of “this is happening and our characters just happen to be in it because they have to”
George had years, his own money , and autism to work on the prequels lol
and Disney doesn't?
They were literally printing money pre-pandemic
they can hire the best talent, best writers and best visionaries
yet we get poorly written messes with set decor and cgi that looks like it is a fan film
not if they don't want to work on the franchise for fear of the online mob tearing them up for the slightest transgression lol
I thought the shows that we got from Disney+ would have CGI that were better than the prequels if not rivaling them
Look, they don't give a shit about the online mob
TV budget over 5-7 hours is far different than film budget for 2ish hours
it's been years
not an excuse
they need to be held to a higher standard
if even shitty fanfilms look better
how is it not though? you're having to create more content for less money
- They are watering down the story with pointless episodes,
- Production value feels shit
- Their run-time is even lower than previous shows from 40-50m to now 30ishm
- They cut corners on Aliens, locations and props
I think people just do not understand what is actually happening with the money on these shows lol
People don't need to, and people shouldn't care
but when you have flop after flop after flop
it is an issue
then why complain about it lol
because it is what we do lol
sounds exhausting
you can choose to not complain
I mean it is the Internet right?
look at the end of the day, I don't really give a shit
but it gets old real quick
it's not like me some random nobody can do shit about it
paired with the fact that you get some bait videos reccomended to you why said show is bad parroting the same points over and over again
also the locations in this series feel like they were legit pulled from galaxies edge lol
I quite liked the sets
like there are legit criticisms about the show and yeah they should and could do better, but I think expectations are way too high and people need to lower them to a realistic level. disney is historically a very cheap corporation (take this from someone who worked for them for years) if they can find any way to cut corners they will, but this is not really different from any other corporation, this is just the world we live in lol
Seeing what the IP is expectations are going to be high
it's the years of subverting them is what lead to this
now that's a parroted talking point lol
but y'know b1tching about it on Discord isn't going to do anything
oh yea 100%
then why keep going lol
lol, it is what the online brainrot is
brainrot has gotten to me too
but if it matters I do enjoy the show
grifters aside
I think the show is average, but it's enjoyable
I do like the characters a lot though
def below what I expected or wanted but these last two episodes had me really invested
prob because the original selling point of the series finally made a substantial appearance
same, the ones that are left at least lol
There is like 3 or 4 lmao
The funny thing is I don’t really give a shit about osha and Mae
yeah I think this ep is one of the reasons I don't know if this was envisioned beyond this 1 season. there's just not going to be any characters left to carry over to future seasons lol Sol is a dead man walking, one of the twins is probably going to die, and Darth Qimir is a coin flip
This is truly lost on most people
Riddle me this though Batman, when was the last time you saw someone H E A D B U T T a light saber?
I mean the money isn’t going to the writers, and I’m not saying that just cuz the story sucks
that bit of choreo really got me, some really creative stuff with that and the bracer
I was waiting for the helmet to disappear in someone’s hands tho
people want everyone to be paid fairly and then are shocked when this balloons up budgets and cuts have to be made somewhere because the corporation needs to make money
and even then people are still paid pennies lol
That’s the issue tho
Not only does the quality of the show suffer, but those who worked on the show get nickel and dimed and then get less money to work with
that's life in the studio system baybee
Def a capitalism problem
What flops? The ones that were review bombed into oblivion?
Like, you do realize this episode was knocked down to a 2.6 on IMDb an hour before it aired right? And the show in total has more RT "audience" score reviews than multiple past shows combined... and more than TROS, right? The feedback on it being a "flop" is false, inorganic, and manipulated.
I think the only legit flop in the disney era is solo (which I genuinely love, it just got screwed by TLJ backlash and releasing like 2 weeks before Avengers ), everything else is in the top 40 highest grossing films of all time
That’s the other thing too
The quality has consistently been shitty and only gone down, yet Disney is still raking in tons of profit
And they can continue to cut corners and put out worse and worse stuff because they know it’ll still make money
Honestly they probably have more incentive to make it shit, since that generates discussion and drives people to the show
this is the case for like everything though? everything now is more expensive, lesser quality and sold to you as the same thing, this isn't just exclusive to star wars
I thought I'd never have to do it but I have been budgeting since late last year
all my expenses lol
you don't know how quickly you burn through a paycheck
lightsabers also do NOT help with that lmao
What the fuck is "bortles" lol it's been brought up like 3 times.
Somebody please explain (I just woke up).
Correct.
such a powerful scene
Also, I know nobody's asking for my 2 cents but I'll throw it in anyways:
I think the Acolyte and Ahsoka both suffer from this problem where the show isn't good until deeper into the series' release.
Yea I've limited myself within the last year
I more or less have what I want
Also an inspiration to TLJ
Ahsoka didn't pick up steam and get real good until Episode 4, and here we are with The Acolyte being mostly decent until Ep 5.
Oh I think I can agree, it feels like Ahsoka found it's footing a little quicker but this show did not hook me until the last 5 mins of ep 4 lol
I've heard this is a problem of "the show doesn't get steam until deep into the series" is also a problem with anime?
To be fair, that's also how I've structured my own story.
I think it's a bigger issue with these 6-8 episode 30-50min max run time shows IMO, you have so much less time to really grab your audience
I think people have a problem with a lack of a hook at the beginning and tbf I can see why?
But I guess to me it's not much of a problem?
yeah like I enjoy the characters and was intrigued enough to continue but did not have the "OH WOW I GOTTA SEE WHAT'S NEXT RIGHT NOW" feeling that some of the other shows had off the bat
Like genuinely I don't care how boring the plot is for the first bit if I like the characters. Which I did.
And of course now I really like one of the characters,,,
I have never found myself attracted to any darksider until Qimir, bro is built like a Greek statue HOLY FORCE
We really need longer runtime in these shows, more runtime could've given us more time to explore these characters
Maybe had time to look more into Qimir
easily my biggest criticisms of disney+ as a whole
at least stuff like bad batch or clone wars got a pretty solid amount of episodes
I think even 10 episodes with bare minimum of 50 min run times would do wonders for the pacing, story and characters in these shows
Agreed, even 40 minute runtimes or just be greater than 30 minutes
this ep in particular you can just FEEL (aside from confirmation from the writers) that it was just bisected in half
They could have even released them all at 60 mins as a miniseries
the 8 episode thing also just feels arbitrary when they do these 2 episode premieres
Rewarding old syndicated TV shows with 24 episode seasons ...
Also, a thought:
||Qimir Ren||
Very similar wardrobe choices
Nope it was a helmet, he got a helmet, boots, and gloves that the orbalisks wouldn’t grow over.
also a bracer only on 1 arm
I thought about that, but Ren is called Ren.
and Qimir did recite part of the sith code early in the show
unless it's very very very early ren which is possible
Ren is a title, and taken from the one before.
Ren is a name that is passed like a title
There's no date given for the origin of "Ren", just that it's "old"
