we already have a system in place where if you are interested in someone's trading offer or post, you can dm them and then you both can handle the trade negotiations/agreement through there

People wait ages before checking message requests sometimes
one time it went like a half hour before they responded and they were actively posting ever 10 minutes

Hmm, maybe instead of reactions in trading, maybe a part of the Embed that goes in every so often can say "Make sure you check your message requests!" Or something similar?
Message Requests for me were ass and never told me I actually got one until much later, so I personally had to disable it. If you go into your privacy and safety settings you can disable it there and dms work as they used to.
To me this seems like more of a discord issue when it comes to message requests, and I don't think reactions would help.
