IMO replace Corviknight with a tailwind user like Murkrow or Hydreigon. I’d use murkrow so you’d still have access to taunt
is murkrow good? kinda iffy on replacing corviknight since i found him very useful as physical tanker
stealth rock and spikes on chomp hes kinda different in meta now. replace encore for a coverage move.i would not replace corvi for murk seems troll
As someone who uses Murkrow it’s scary
It has Haze to ruin Dodonzo Tatsu combo, taunt to stop set ups and other moves foul play to take out Pokémon with high attack stats and tailwind of course to increase speed
is this for vgc
guys protect is good bc if they double target into you as you protect your other mon has a free turn
Protect is only good on some Pokémon
eh
My opinions: skeledirge should have coverage over encore, garchomp should use clear amulet to preserve stats in the face of parting shot and intimidate, toxtricity may want to use throat spray to boost damage further, and corv may want to consider tailwind. I feel as if clodsire is dead weight in the doubles meta imo. Maybe use something with tailwind there? Murkrow pairs very well with garchomp and can haze away skeledirge stat drops. I hope this helps!
if corviknight is working well for you then keep him yeah. I would try to slot in Murkrow or Hydreigon somewhere though. Maybe replace Clodsire since the poison typage on both doesnt help vs EQ, isnt are really that good (Terrible base speed stat & pretty bad defense base stat). Murkrow with Prankster & Tailwind is insane right now
Regular quagsire is just a better unaware Mon with better stat distribution
Toxtricity initially used throat spray but once I switch the effect was gone, so I had to switch to choice specs
I'll consider the others tho
Also both overdrive and boomburst I'm pretty sure hit your teamate soooo
Oh I didn't make it clear but I'm mainly using this team for singles
OH ITS FOR SINGLES
yeah lmao
single gameplay & team makes a huuuuge difference loll
yeahh i forgot to clarify that from the start, my bad
Okay then just if Toxtricity is choiced get rid of toxic spikes
i thought about that, but that would mean im left with no one to do hazard, should i find get someone else to learn a hazard move or would i be fine without one
Use a lead glinmora
for breloom i notice it seems to just. die? like my breloom nearly never gets a singular attack off, maybe one if im lucky or 2 (i havent properly iv trained it yet so thats a big factor i feel)
(as a item i run toxic orb on it cus of poison heal)
(i mainly wanna go do doubles
Even after the IV training, the breloom casually gets oneshot by stupid make it rain of gholdengo
no use it very offensivly with technician
Mach punch is very funny with technician
Machpunch technician? Huh that seems like a viable strat. I was tryna do a facade poisonheal toxic orb strat but ig that works
Bullet seed is very good with it too
thanks, ill change my breloom up. is gunk shot any good on it?
(still single team)
Update: Did a few tweaks to my team based on suggestions ive seen, anything else i should be aware of?
Imo i would add tailwind to the team, idk if corviknight can learn tailwind but its pretty nifty, or trick room ifnu got a slow team
yeah corviknight can learn tailwind, i did consider it, just not sure which move I can replace it with
and unfortunately no one in my team can learn trick room
i woukd say taunt, as yes taunt is usefull for preventing setup but they wont be able to setup if u kill them by beeing faster and hitting hard
This is singles
Taunt and tailwind aren’t too useful on singles teams rather than doubles
Still beeing speedier then your opponent can be very strong
no
taunt is better in singles because of how popular stealth rock and spikes are
in my opinion
as well as recover/setup being a lot more popular especsially setup
I have a garchomp myself.. I think you should use iron head rather than fire fang.. yes fire fang has coverage to ice however iron head has more STAB along with having not only a better coverage to ice but also fairy
How does your team deal with a Dondozo who uses Fissure/Yawn/Protect? I've gibbed a couple of Corviknights with Fissure when they go for the predictable Roost.
dont exactly have a strategy against those unfortunately since i havent faced them, any recommendation?
If you end up vs Dondozo as the opponent's last mon, then keep count of Fissure PP usage (base 5, max 8). It can only hit you on the turn you use Roost, so stay topped up by using Roost unpredictably, such as 'wastefully' using it >70% HP. It will be unexpected and a Fissure should not follow it. If you do drop below 50% HP, they will expect you to Roost as it's the 'safest' time to do so. Just try to last as long as you can without using it as each time you do, there may be a 30% chance of Corvi getting one-shotted! Outside of death-by-Fissure, this matchup is a horrible stalemate between two physically-bulked Pokemon who don't really have the kit to deal with each other. If you can PP him out somehow while not wasting your own Body Press, make sure to sync Iron Defense uses with his Protects in order to reserve PP. Taunt will force him to use Wave Crash and take recoil damage, which will be your way of negating his Leftovers while chipping away with your Body Press.
The mindset of a Dondozo Fisher will be gambling everything on a Roost->Fissure one-shot as their Wave Crash isn't going to do anything once you have your Defense ramped up. Every other move will likely be Protect, to gain more Leftovers heals. Use that to your advantage when risking a Roost, too. It's all move patterns and mind games!
Otherwise just be very careful of switching out after being yawned. Switches are predictable as nobody likes to be slept, so it's a good time for Dondozo to throw a Fissure at the switch-in. Paralyze messes with him. Heavy poison knocks his confidence. Salt Cure absolutely deletes him, but that's not an option here.
Sorry, bit of an unnecessary essay, but that's my two cents after using him to handle Corviknight in every ranked game I've played so far.
No this is very helpful, thank you! I'll keep all this in mind
Question tho, Dondozo has the hidden ability Unaware, wouldnt that mean the Iron Defense would be useless against him?
Well spotted. Either way, Corvi was tanking it just fine.
