As the game is now out, it is clear that there is a need to redefine "What is a Spoiler" on Rotom for the discussion channel, at least for another week or so, such that people who are recieving physical copies or going a little slower can not have entire sequences, end-game pokemon, etc spoiled to them.

For the record, I am only about halfway through the game, having 3 Gym badges, 4/5 Titans, and 2 Star Bases, but 230 in my dex. I haven't even seen some parts of the map yet. And yet, I know large swaths of information about the perils, paradox pokemon, Koraidon/Miraidon's place in the story, the hidden legendaries, etc.

Look, I went a year without knowing that you battle ||Volo and Giratina|| before meeting Arceus in Legends. So I know that people are capable of properly labelling spoilers. I don't want to know if I'm right or not about what I've gathered and been spoiled about thus far, so I'm not going to say what I do and don't know. However, the definition of what is and isn't a spoiler can be more cleanly defined now that some people have actually beaten the game. And from someone who had many chunks of endgame spoiled for me, it would be very nice to see this happen. It's downright bihourly in the channel at this point.

I mean, I'd include that things that constitute a spoiler include;

  • Story events that occur after obtaining most of the badges in any given story line. This includes battles, the pokemon/people involved, or changes to the world.
  • Most things related to "Paradox" Pokemon, such as how they are unlocked, encountered, and their dex entries. The sole exception is Great Tusk/Iron Treads. If you find a shiny, congratulations, but it's a spoiler.
  • The forms, names, types, or encounter methods for any legendary outside of Koraidon/Miraidon. Ban discussion on Leaked Mythical Pokemon until they begin to appear in events.
  • Do not 'hint' at things. Enough people giving one piece of the puzzle completes the puzzle. If it might be an endgame spoiler, take it to the endgame channel.

Plus, most people suck at 'hinting' at things anyways.

I mean gods, before the game was released, "How many Pokemon are in the Pokedex" was considered a Spoiler. There's probably still people who don't want to know what the final forms of the starters look like. A line has to be drawn -- strictly -- to let people actually experience the game and interact with this community without knowing major twists. Otherwise people will continue to push what is and isn't a 'spoiler' based on their own personal knowledge.

To draw a parallel, it needs to be such that people can read Chamber of Secrets and not be told "yeah when snape killed dumbledore, the whole series changes."

Unfortunately my friend, you are in an SV server, and there are going to be people coming and going being excited about the games and talking about them, without realising there is a spoiler ban across the server. It's a bit hard to hide yourself from all the info that is now out there on the internet, especially when you're in a community that is focusing on the new games. If you're really that adamant about not seeing any spoilers whatsoever, the safest place for you would be to stay off the internet until you have completed the game.

As for the spoiler ban, that is ending in about 26 hours, so implementing harsher rules surrounding it will not last long, nor do we see much of a reason to at so close to the lift PES_SadGePray
