#Do I want KhiCAS and how do I install it (and other external applications)?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Epsilon 15.5.0 - Omega 2.0.2
This is what the page looks like
I originally put "Morata" in the username slot and it appeared to work?
I'm just trying to figure out how I get the dark modes, KhiCAS which I think is what I'm looking for, etc.
So yeah, I opened up the dualbooter and my original firmware is gone.
The OOTB firmware was 15.X.X so this sucks, I don't know if I'll be able to restore that or not
You have 2 tabs using the calculator. Close the one you don't need
Yeah, I got KhiCAS installed, but I had no idea what I was doing or pressing, fucked it up, and I'm currently trying to just do a fresh reinstall, but I can't seem to figure that out now
Problem is that my original firmware is gone, and I cannot figure out how to reinstall Omega 2.0.2 (currently installed firmware)
Never did figure out the themes either 😕
Recovery
Uninstall it from Device Manager manually first?
Not specifically needed, but I use Arch, so I don't know
I know that Windows update break the driver sometimes…
Maybe I should try on my Mac?
Unfortunately, this is all I'm getting:
I'm honestly not sure how or what I should do
Install
Mate, it's already installed
Let me screenshot what happens if I click it though
Instantly, this is what happens.
If you doubt, just press reset + 6 and then go to install on omega website but instead of installing, click on recovery
Will start recovery procedure and then you should be able to install omega
Do I do the reset + 6 while plugged in, or?
Plugged in or not
Well, I have omega installed, I'm just trying to reset it
And I'm also trying to get an authentic firmware for the dual boot
Since my original was corrupted I guess?
Just shows as invalid on the dual-booter now
How did you installed the bootloader ?
OOTB, it was on 15.X.X
I just used the automatic installer on the site
Out of the box
I opened it up and it was running 15
Which as far as I know, was good (unlocked OOTB)
So when I originally tried
It brought me to the dual boot screen
And I had both slots invalid
I thought I bricked it
Panicked a bit, before trying again and finally, Omega was installed!
But my original firmware is gone, and I don't know if I can ever recover that or if I even want to do so necessarily
Try to reinstall following the recovery procedure i explained earlier
Does what I put in the username slot matter at all?
Then install omega
No
Gotcha, I've got it in recovery mode
I'll keep you posted
Working so far 👍
If you have a good guide or some resource that can help me understand KhiCAS, that would be great, English or French, but preferably in English. I was having quite the difficult time trying to figure out what I was doing, although it could be a number of reasons. I'm not a programmer, nor have I ever used a CAS system before.
I do appreciate the help though
I think there is documentation over xcas which is nearly the same as khicas
I saw xCas on the KhiCAS menu, so yeah, that would probably help
Is it normal for the bottom bar to be off the screen though? (in KhiCAS on Numworks)
Hmm, so on the calculator, it installed, and then gave the connected popup, KhiCAS is still installed, but on my end, the installer bar is fully filled in, but didn't refresh
And I'm getting this again
Should I reinstall standard firmware, perhaps upgrade to 18.2.0 if I can find it?
I feel like such an idiot lol
.
Does slot 1 works ?
If yes, just download the file in pinned messages in #help-en , then unpack it using unpack.py script and then flash external.bin using ti planet webdfu
Yes, yes, Omega is installed, I was just trying to A. reset it to default, and B. get my dual boot function back
The script:https://guide.getomega.dev/images/unpack.py
Thank you, I was about to ask 😅
That's how to get your dual boot back
What is reseting to default ?
Factory settings, fresh installation
The Omega firmware
Removing KhiCAS and everything as if I just installed Omega
Just reset at the back of the calculator is a fresh installation
Hope i helped you
Can't help more
Thanks, working on getting the dual boot back
Nvm, we're good. File didn't download correctly originally.
WebDFU is taking forever, but we're making progress, data is being written 👍
After many failed attempts
I've done it
Epsilon and Omega dual-boot!
Thank you for all the help @fervent phoenix
Wouldn't have been possible without you
You're welcome !
Hey, just a small question, how do I get the themes 😅
And also, why is Numworks and/or TI so intensely followed by French folks?
Numworks is originally a French company. They even received an inventiveness award from the French state when they started. And I think that even today, the majority of their market is in France.
For TI, I'm not sure, but maybe it's due to some community sites that bring people together, like TI-planet.
Now that makes sense
I've actually been having the same issue, although my calculator doesn't seem to want to connect to anything. I also only have the one omega boot slot, and it works fine, but I would love to get khiCAS and dual boot working.
ok so i tried the recovery on the numworks website, but now the screen just flashes on and off regardless of power state
it still boots into the bootloader and shows both slots on epsilon 19.5.0
not sure where to go from here
@halcyon hill 19.5, sounds like you need to downgrade and unlock your bootloader with Pi or whatever it is called
Calc doesnt want to connect to anything, just disconnects when i try
I suggest making your own, and being patient for better assistance
I'm just a fellow user, so I can't do much for you
It was a chore getting mine to where it is
understandable, i prolly just bricked it :)
But in the end, it is a treat to be able to finally have it
Press reset + 6 and see if you can get in recovery mode, and then try to rescue it on the official site
thats what originally caused the problem
screen just flickers when not in the bootloader
what should I make?
