ive been talking to them for like a week theyve started calling me names like honey dear love and i cant seem to tell if its just friendly admiration.
and also just generally being quite affectionate constantly telling me they miss me and just being very vocally affectionate for me overall

which i do appreciate but like i said i cant tell which way to take the affection and now its making me a bit wary
and they know ive been groomed in the past

im 14 turning 15 this november and they are 16 turning 17 soon
if it is meant to be more than friendly is that a slightly weird age gap?

am i just worried
and they are also a male i really dont feel like it should matter but i think its worth mentioning could i just be paranoid from my previous experiences with males

my dms are open btw

Given your past experiences its completely natural to be wary. My only advice would be to try and avoid getting sucked in too much just incase their actions are nefarious.
You can still be friendly and polite, thank them for compliments and such as you don't want to drive away what could be totally innocent care.

If things escalate then feel free to come back and explain.

I hope it goes well for you 🙏

If you don’t like it, I suggest telling him that. Grooming is a serious thing. However, I will say, calling someone romantic names isn’t exactly grooming. This sounds more like regular flirting. But if you do feel like he’s taking a more malicious approach, definitely let him know you want him to stop, and if he doesn’t, let me know and we can work something else out.
