|| my friend used to live in pennsylvania and just told me today her friend got shot...i dont know what to do. i can empathize with her like i can feel the pain confusion anger and hoeplessness she is feeling but i feel like im not saying enough. im texting her right now and idrk what to say. i told her i am so sorry and it was so horrible. im agreeing with her and helping her just is there anything that you guys would reccomend for me to do? like offer to hang out with her later or to give her space or to give her something to distract her...???||

Yes definitely the best you can do for the moment is to first let her have the time she needs to process it and once she feels ready you can both plan a hang out. Just let her know that you’re here for her when she’s ready!
