Giveaways

Since the start of free to all, giveaways have unfortunately stopped. Many community members enjoyed these giveaways and would like to see them return. Here's a new functional system I came up with for them:

• Make a new category called Giveaways with 2 channels: #giveaways and #giveaway-announcements

• #giveaways would be where the giveaways take place

• #giveaway-announcements would be where any news relating to the giveaways would go (there could also be a ping role for it, maybe call it @Giveaway Hoot (only they would be able to participate in giveaways)

• When a giveaway is about to end, the channel is locked to hide the identities of the winners

• During this period, a ping will be sent to people with the @Giveaway Hoot role that the giveaway channel is about to select winners and that it has been locked (this is to stop confusion)

We are not in charge of deciding giveaways. This is 100% up to Mediatonic on how/if they want to run giveaways in the future. As the Mediatonic team does not read this Discord feedback, this will more than likely be archived.

As Leshkee stated, we are not in charge of deciding giveaways. With the launch of Free For All they are in a state of limbo as the Community Managers do not know how they will proceed with them, as it is a bit of a grey area.

Also, we will never ping for giveaways; we want people to check in the server for any ongoing giveaways, rather than just pinging people. Before FFA, we did hide the channel before winners were rolled because some bad beans were harassing the winners.
