They are. Party Promenade is a shining example. Trapezes will disconnect you shortly after grabbing them, with no outside reason. They just disconnect you from them. Even a perfect grab will disconnect you, especially on that last one over the slime.

It can be fun and rewarding to still pull off a win even when you're with lower levels, and every now and then you get lucky and get in a team with competent people.
Earlier today I had a teammate who was able to single-handedly save us in the first 2 rounds after myself and the other teammate (we were a squad of 3 sadly) got eliminated, then I was able to repay the favor on round 3 when that teammate got eliminated
Instances like that can be very rewarding, when you complement each other well
... but then again you also get freeloaders quite a lot, especially in xtreme squads
