#Making a Region Based On the Country My Grandparents Fled Decades Ago

Hello! About a year ago, I made up this Pokemon region based off the land my grandma fled from five decades ago, Viet Nam, but I haven't had any motivation to continue during the fall of the same year.

But now, I'm thinking of remaking it almost entirely while keeping its name. Here are the stuff I planned out for the region.

(P.S: I might make my trainersona live here and be the champion. LOL.)

Region Name:
VietNam, but there is no space and the N is capitalized.

Geography:
VietNam is filled with dense forests, rivers and mountains reaching up to 10,000 feet with lush islands on the coast of the region.

Culture
VietNam's culture is based on the real life culture of Viet Nam, obviously. It is a very spiritual country and myths and legends aren't uncommon.

The VN League
This is the official Pokemon League of VietNam. The gyms are scattered across the region, so travelling back and forth is a pain for trainers.

The gym types so far are:

  • Fairy
  • Ground
  • Ice
  • Flying
  • Psychic
  • Rock
  • Maybe A New Type for Huế's Gym
  • Dragon/Poison
  • Steel

This probably will change in the future.

Starters
I'm sorry to say but the starter trio hasn't been officialy planned yet, but revamps for the old starter trio or entirely new Pokemon can be revealed.

Legendary Pokemon
The Box Legendaries could be based on Indochinese tigers.

Possibly like Zacian and Zamazenta from Gen VIII

But a Merlion and a Dragon Pokemon will be in the story.

As of me typing this post, It's really late here on the East Coast. More information will be added.

Also, this region idea is still conceptual; drawings and designs aren't produced yet.

And I might just randomly stop this project again.

There might be expansions to places based on Laos, Cambodia, and I’m even considering Hainan as a possibility!

Laos is the landlocked country shaped like the palm tree between Thailand and Vietnam!

Cambodia is home to Angkor Wat, but unlike Laos, Cambodia borders the Gulf of Thailand to the Southwest! Cambodia is between Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand!

Hainan is an island off the coast of the Chinese province Guangdong and can be spotted easily looking at a map of Vietnam

How would you guys feel about dual type gyms

So something like this: Three dual type gyms in all of VietNam’s big three cities, Sai Gon, Ha Noi, and Da Nang (or Danang) but they will all use dual-type Pokémon that have steel as one of their types
