I recently ordered some Airpods Max replicas from Aliexpress and I am excited to share my experience with you!
Shipping (8/10)
Although there were some delays, the seller was very helpful in extending the delivery time and keeping me informed throughout the process. Despite the delay, the headphones arrived from China in about 16 days.
Packaging (?/10)
The headphones arrived in a simple cardboard box, with no retail packaging, except for a small instruction manual and a original cable (Usb C to Lightning)
Sound (8.5/10)
To be honest, I was skeptical about the sound quality of these replicas. But, to my surprise, they sound almost as good as the first generation Airpods, with a bit more bass. They are particularly great for podcasts or movies, but be warned that the bass can be overpowering at times. However, they do not support spatial audio.
ANC/Transparency (6/10)
The active noise cancellation is not very effective compared to my original Airpods Pro. They are okay at blocking high pitched sounds and humming, but not as great as the Pros. The cushions also provide some passive noise cancellation.
The transparency mode is not as impressive either, it sounds like nothing is turned on.
Connectivity (9/10)
The replicas connected effortlessly to all of my Apple devices, including my Mac, iPad, iPhone, and Apple Watch. They even have a valid serial number and a warranty from Apple.
They also worked flawlessly with my Nintendo Switch.
Build Quality (9/10)
The mesh on the replicas looks and feels similar to the original Airpods Max. The outer shells are made of plastic, and the crown and button both feel tactile and responsive. The headband is made of silicone, while the rods are made of aluminum. They don't move as smoothly as the original, but they do hold the position you set them in. The charging port is firm and holds original Apple cables nicely. The cushions are very soft and have some sort of memory foam inside them. They also provide some noise reduction when worn.
Battery (10/10)
The battery life of the replicas is impressive. They can last for up to 19-20 hours on a single charge, and the case puts them in sleep mode.
Comfort (7/10)
Although the mesh looks and feels good, the weight and clamping force of the replicas can make them uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time (around 3 hours).
Issues
Unfortunately, my pair of replicas came with some issues. The ANC/Transparency switching sound is very muted and only comes from the left side of the speaker. Additionally, there is sometimes a sound splitting issue where the sound can come in at different timings. However, this can be resolved by reconnecting them.
Summary
Overall, these replicas are a good investment for those looking for a more affordable alternative to the original Airpods Max that still work seamlessly with iOS devices. At a price point of $143 (131 euros), they are a steal, especially since they come with a 3-month warranty from the seller. Additionally, the seller is very helpful and can even sell you spare parts such as earmuffs if you accidentally break them.
